anyone have updated info. as to when am 1440 might return to the air, and with what format. i'd like to see a standards format or possibly switch the oldies(oops...music from the 60's,70's, and 80's) from WSOX.

It will not be returning, even with the Cumulus buyout. The one day startup was only done to secure the license for the transfer.

Never say never; 1590 just returned to the air in Chambersburg with 100 watts to secure the license. Apparently, Verstandig held on to it and sold it to a local church. It's operating under an STA; plans are to eventually put up a 2 tower DA. I would have bet a large sum that was dead for good!

Where are they operating from with 100 watts? And where is the 2-tower DA going to go? Judging from how tight their night pattern was, with 2 towers they might be able to be 250 watts. They were 1kw with 4 towers, 5kw Non-DA days. At least they'd stay a Class B. No matter what it becomes, its great to hear this station will survive...it has a very colorful history.

Not sure where it is now, Ray---probably just a wire antenna strung up somewhere
to get it on and save license. The FCC will bend pretty far to save a station. I'm told the new DA will be near Greencastle, presumably to give better Hagerstown coverage---I believe the church that bought it is in Hagerstown. Night power isn't that important to them, most likely, it's that big 5kw non-d daytime footprint that'll make the money!
