Congratulations to Dan Gaffney and WGMD for landing in First in the Salisbury-Ocean City-Sussex County Book. Clear Channel has big problems, Q-105, Froggy, Magic and 96 Rock all down, only Kiss and the Wave up, and they fired the PD & morning guy, Kemosabe Joe during the book. Great Scott has big problems too, WZBH has lost almost half of their audience since 2007. Big, OC 104, and the B up, no show for Hot Country. Delmarva had some good news, Eagle up nicely, Smooth Jazz also up, Cat Country down a little, and the new WICO-FM slow start, but if they add some local talk they may have chance.Bay Country showed again, a tough thing to do when your down in Somerset Cest populations. WOCM up a little, WQMR- Jack give it up, Radio Disney would do better, and would be cheaper.

My name is Chuck Manning. I worked at WJWL and WSEA FM in Georgetown from 1969 to 1975. Just wondering if they're still around, I was Country Chuck on the AM and Chuck "Main Man" Manning on WSEA.

Fluke-y book. I wonder if some WICO-FM listeners were confused and wrote down WGMD instead. Both stations run Limbaugh and Savage. Not sure it was a great idea for Delmarva Broadcasting to put their new talk station right next to the market's dominant one.

Bad book for the dominant CC stations, Q and Froggy, but CC overall did OK with half of the top 10 stations. Kiss is a big success story for them. I'm not sure why they continue to try to make 96 Rock work when Kiss is more than doubling 96 Rock's numbers. A 95.9/105.5 Kiss combo would probably rival OC104. The ZBH/96 Rock war just keeps proving there's only room for one hard rocker in Delmarva.

Big book for Eagle 97.7. I don't think I've ever seen them so high. That combined with 92.7's monster book makes me wonder if there were a lot of diaries in Delaware and not enough around Salisbury and OC. That wouldn't explain Kiss's rise and 93.5's fall though, so as I said, it might just be a fluke-y book.

Some thoughts:

- I wonder if Delmarva Broadcasting would do well to simulcast 92.5 and 101.3 since neither one does very well on its own. Of course if they wanted to put Talk on 101.3, they'd have to steal away Limbaugh and Savage from 92.7, and I'm not sure that's feasible.

- The B simulcast has to be one of the most disappointing stations in the market. They've got 2 signals and can barely manage a 2-share. Meanwhile, Eagle 97.7 is beating them on a little Class A from Milford, on the edge of the market. Might be time for a change at the 101.7/95.3 combo. Maybe a Jack/Bob/Ben-type Adult Hits station would do better here, since that format can no longer be heard in the market and the station is already doing 80's weekends.

- Why didn't WKHI show up on their new signal? That's a solid signal right between Ocean City and Salisbury, similar to the OC104 signal. There has to be someone listening to 107.7, doesn't there? Was Country a bad choice in a market that already has two dominant Country stations and a couple of rimshots (WDSD, WBEY)? Are there any other format holes in a market that seems vastly overradio-ed for its size? Sports, maybe?

KHI probably didn't show because they are 100 percent on the bird with Dial-Global's Hot Country format. It sounds good but they're up against two live and local country stations....THE FROG and THE CAT. It was a strange book. There seems to be two areas of this market. The beach area....and the rest of Delmarva. WGMD and THE WAVE are in that beach area and did well. Diary placement issues?
