WGN-AM to Have New Programming Schedule for Monday through Friday

I thought Garry Meier had the highest ratings on the station? Then again,he is probably the highest paid talent on WGN and moving him to a low powered FM with no definite plan for the future is questionable at best. This move seems like a demotion. I haven't heard 87.7 yet, but outside of Jonathan I thought they were all sports. I would imagine Garry would be doing the same show he's doing now.

Does WGN FM stream? I would like to continue listening to him on line. The messages on the Chicagoland Radio message board are overwhelmingly negative about the change.

Meier is not going to The FM side of WGN but to WGN FM which only streams. More or less he is finished and riding out his contract.

WGWG is NOT a FM station..it is a Low Power analog TV 6 station trying to act as a radio station...come Sept 2015, it will go away when ALL low power TV must be digital (the FCC COULD make them go away now but they wont bother with them)...

I was all ready aware of WGWG-LP being a low-power TV station, but since its programming is on an FM radio frequency and its programming is primarily audio, I consider it both an FM station and a TV station.

By the way, capitalizing entire words for emphasis is not really helpful. I suggest italicizing words for emphasis instead.

A couple of years later and I am and I bet for sure other Garry Meier fans are baffled by why WGN Radio made its decision to put Garry Meier on the stream and then canceled his show together months later. He had what was to be figured the highest radio afternoon show in Chicago, and to demote him the way WGN Radio did. Thankfully now he has his podcast going and at least he can still be heard a few times a week whether you will help pay for his podcast or not.

Garry wasn't part of the "insiders" club at WGN which was led by Jimmy deCastro and others. It didn't make sense then, and it certainly doesn't make sense now. Garry is too good a personality to not be on the air full time in Chicago. He would have been a natural fit at WLS,but that won't be happening. His podcasts are great but are missing the live element with listener phone calls.

Well I guess it made since to Jimmy deCastro, while I agree that is he is too good to be off the air full time, the only problem is there has to be a radio job to open up and a station to be able to make room on their schedule for him. Even without listener's calls it is still better to hear Garry Meier on podcasts then not at all. A lot of their programming choices don't make sense, like why they would hand a Sunday Morning show to Rick Pearson that had never hosted a radio show in his life, and let him host a 2 hour politics talk show. I don't even know if he had wanted to return to WLS AM, but the problem with that is he still had a radio contract with WGN Radio that still paid him whether he did a show or not, and that ran until the end of September of last year. And correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think WLS has made anymore changes to their schedule even weekday since Jonathon Brandmeier was brought on to host a national show. And I can't even see Garry Meier hosting a weekend show.
