WGN America orders first original series

Since Prospect Park is a producer of "Salem", maybe WGN America should also make a deal to carry the company's revivals of "All My Children" and "One Life To Live", in addition to having them available online.

Having them on WGN America (and perhaps also simulcast on WGN-9 Chicago) could be a boost for those shows, WGN America, and perhaps even WGN-9.

One has to wonder how long the channel we currently know as WGN America will have any affiliation with the channel 9 in Chicago. To me this looks like the shift completely away from the WGN image and toward becoming a general entertainment channel such as FX or TBS is ramping up.

On a related note, when will Tribune (or whatever the company becomes known as after the newspapers are spun off) start aggressively getting the channel we know as WGN America on cable systems in and around Chicago? With the exception of homes with Dish or DirecTV all people here get is channel 9. WGN America is non existent. The number 3 TV market leaves a big hole for a general entertainment network to fill...

WGN America won't start showing up in Chicago-area homes until its WGN-TV affiliation ends. And Chicago isn't the only hole; we don't get WGN America in Seattle either.

I have lived in the Seattle area and have received WGN America for the past seven years. Comcast doesn't carry it, but other video providers do, i.e. Frontier Fios, DirecTV, Dish Network.
