WGN America

Hmmm! ???

Either way they just dropped the Superstation part of it which makes sense in today's cable world.

Superstation sounds redundant in a world of 500 national cable channels.

I just wonder if they will be like a TBS clone, or will still follow the Superstation rules?

Maybe they want to watch how WAPA America does it (yes, I know WAPA America is a Spanish channel, but it heavily depends on the product coming from WAPA in San Juan, with some programming from WIPR)

Of course, this came after many believed that the "Superstation" part would be retained, and not WGN -- its bug the last few months had "Superstation" in a larger type than "WGN".

This is surprising - especially since they had been emphasizing the word "Superstation" over the past month.

Maybe it had something to do with the sports? Maybe they decided to keep WGN in the name since "WGN" would be on the screen during the Cubs, White Sox, and Bulls games.

But it doesn't seem like much programming has changed... same station with a different name. Strange logo too...

Their website may say "WGN America," but they still ID as "WGN Superstation." I haven't seen any mention of the new name during the currently-airing Cubs game, but plenty of mentions of the old/current one.

Set me straight: Are the rest of us going to be able to see the Cubs and Sox, or will they be blacked out?

Seeing as the Cubs and Sox broadcast schedule is prominently featured on the new WGN America homepage, I would assume they will continue to be carried.

I think it would be better if they brought back the old WGN box logo and replace "Superstation" with "America"; or possibly round off the edges on the box to have a more updated look. That new logo is not going to look all that great if they use it as a small bug.

It looks as if WGN America is "full swing" this morning (5/26). The logo is something I never would have imagined, but it shows a renewed interest in this network and a fresh new start. I'm hoping that the "eyes" logo bug on the bottom of the screen is reduced to just the letters "WGN America". I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the network.

Same here.

It would be great if they picked up programs (preferably older programs) not currently airing on any of the cable/satellite networks.

WGN is running retro nights starting June 2nd, at least through the 6th, with 2 hours of different classic 70's sitcoms that haven't been on TV Land in several years each night. I don't konw if this a one time special event, but I hope this will become a regular part of their schedule.

WGN does air Nash Bridges which I like to watch.

Only thing I wonder is how did they pick up those two shows from Disney. Anyone know?

They have done a lot of busniess with Disney in the past, so they have a pretty good relationship. My guess with Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens is that WGN America is the best place for those shows at the moment.

The ads for their "70's week" feature a guy who sounds a lot like Casey Kasem.

The programming appears to be the same (for now).

That logo with the woman's eyes looks like a rip-off of the old The Movie Channel logo. It looks scary and evil. It needs to be changed. Since the name is called "WGN America", the logo needs to include the American flag.
