WGN Chicago Still w/ HD Radio at 8:05pm CDT

I wonder, is this an "oops" or is 720 WGN exercising the recent decision by the FCC to allow IBOC operation at night?

What stinks is that the signal keeps unlocking 40 miles south of Chicago. Perhaps the analog signal of WOR is causing that.

:D

Perhaps the 0's and 1's need a flashlight, lantern or smoky torch-light to find their way those long 40 miles.

How do 700 from Cinncinnati and 740 from Toronto sound? I thought so.

I am less than 10 miles from WOR, so I can't check this out tonight.
I'll be shocked and dismayed tommorow night when I get back to Chicago.

Be sure to call their engineer at [EDIT] tomorrow to let them know how satisfied you are with this performance.

The former, since there are no nighttime IBOC rules yet.

Depends what receiver I use, like usual. WLW has a very high-pitched but subdued hash in the background; 740 CHWO sounds as clear and "quieting" as always. The WGN upper-side IBOC ensembles ~730 seem weaker than the lower-side ~710, which might account for the difference. This is on the Sangean HDR-1. On my office radio (an older GE portable) WLW is very difficult to hear, and only if tuned off-center. CHWO sounds okay, though.
