All Access reports....
RENDA BROADCASTING Country WGNE/JACKSONVILLE PD JEFF DAVIS tells ALL ACCESS that the station has adopted a new positioning statement. They will now be known as "JACKSONVILLE'S New #1 For Country, 99.9 GATOR COUNTRY."

I wonder what Clear Channel will have to say about this development?

Nothing. Everyone is #1 somewhere or somehow. It's a positioning statement, not a ratings claim. Clear Channel won't even blink.

Hey, you gotta believe in yourself before anyone else will!

Or not. Wasn't WHJX "Hot 105.7: Jacksonville's New #1 for Hip Hop and R&B" before flipping to Fiesta?

ROFL.

Hot 105.7? You can't even pick that up in most parts of the city. What a waste of a frequency. WGNE has a huge stick on a great frequency. Not the best analogy.

And WGNE was 100,000 Watts, once upon of time...but they would've needed a higher stick to stay 100,000 watts.

WGNE was 100,000 watts. It was cost effective for Tony Renda to down grade WGNE to 48,000 watts and place 99.9 on shared towers with WEJZ and WAPE. Otherwise it would have taken more time finding an approved FCC\FAA site for a stick tall enough for WGNE at 100,000 watts.

i remember when wgne was not even in jax and was in ormand beach as 99.9 kiss fm. i don't think not too many people know that. and believe it or not, when they had the stick in paladka they still reached jax pretty well. hell, i used to hear them in orlando pretty well as well.

Yes, def Congrats to Gator. Look at WQIK at 5.5 and Gator at 4.7....this is def a ratings war I have been waiting to see...Does anyone know more details of what is going on with the ratings deep then the 12+...I just want where they stand not so much as the numbers....I am supporting Gator 200 percent here...WSOS...oldies? Most of the music formated that way but just the softer stuff....I def say they could make numbers and ad rev for the St. Augustine market if they did...anyways that is my 2 cents.

When that Tower was still in Patatka I picked up then WNFI(I-100) at the University Of Florida in Tampa!!! Since WGNE downgraded K-Country 93.7(WOGK) promotes itself as being Central Florida's Most Powerful Country Music Station.

WOGK is Class C 430 meters at 100kw.

WGNE is Class C1- 298 meters at 48kw.

To think they were once MORE POWERFUL than WOGK is amazing.

I work for a station that would love to UpGrade to what WGNE is now.

I'm in North Alabama, but bak when I went to Ormond Beach I used to Listen to WGNE. The went by Froggy 99.9, and their studios were off hwy 40 about a mile from the water, I still wish they were down there. 93.1 WKRO isnt too bad either, they've taken the slack since froggy leaped to its lilly pad in Jacksonville. Speaking of 93.7 WOGK, their signal is pretty good around Daytona, and I've heard em as far as The Jefferson Co. rest area off I 10 30 miles east of Tallahassee.
