Last summer, WGNI had a program between 10:00 PM and 12:00 AM Monday to Saturday called Night tracks. It followed the 80s at 8 and the 90s at 9.
Basically, it was just certain songs from the regular playlist that weren't always played often. Nothing "major" but it did sound younger, fresher, and there were definitely some really good tunes. They used liners such as "digging deeper into the playlist" and "night tracks -- songs 'we don't have time for during the day" and stuff like that.
Is it still on? WGNI's logs at yes.com don't really indicate it's still there. Perhaps it was really short-lived. Perhaps it was a seasonal, late-night summer thing. It sounded good, though.
Also, there were no jocks at all, not during night tracks or the evenings in general. I figured they put on the 80s at 8, 90s at 9, and night tracks as special automated content to fill spots that would otherwise be completely automated.
How do they sound in general? I always thought GNI was Wilmington's most popular / recognized station, but I've heard that radio has changed a lot in Wilmington recently.
