WGNY 1220- Power Increase CP to 10,000 Watts/180 Night

National Radio Club reports that 1220 WGNY NY Newburgh - CP for U4 10000/180 is on the air, doubling their daytime
power.

OK but don't know why National Radio Club notes this change of CP to 10,000 Watts now doubling power....

according to the NRC they are currently at 5000 Watts with CP to go to 10,000 Watts.

You yourself brought this up last July. I told you then it was already granted and flipped. That TX site was always designed and built for 10K.

Because WGNY just received its license to cover the power increase. That's mainly a procedural thing - they could (and did) raise the power as soon as the construction permit was issued (Feb. 25, 2009, coincidentally enough), but there's then another round of paperwork involved to issue a license for the modified operation, and that's what just went through.

I'm not sure why it took so long - WGNY applied back on June 6, 2009 for the license to cover, certifying that the power increase was built and on the air.

Scott, thanks for clearing this up....

So other than WGNY having to pay Orange and Rockland Utilities another $250 per month to run a larger transmitter, what does this do for the 8 listeners?

Orange County certainly has grown enough through the years to support its own all news station. It still has a smidge of legacy left to build on. The owner should grow a pair and dare to do something with it.

There hasn't been anything exciting on Little Britain Road since the owner chopped up some of the ground radials on the AM stick with the roto-tiller trying to plan vegetables. When was that?? 1983??
