WGNY Is A Waste of Time!

I’ve been listening to Bob O yesterday and he sounded terrific, and I’m still listening to him each and everyday, and there is a problem. Buffalo Bob comes on early at 2:50PM instead of 3PM after the newscast and it was terrible.

And another problem, the station is nothing but 50’s and 60’s oldies with no 70’s. This is why the format was tweaked and they’re backing away from playing 70’s, only 50’s and 60’s. What are you thinking?!

Look at WBPM, they plays 70’s and 80’s with less 60’s, and WGHQ plays 50’s, through the millennium, and that’s why WGHQ’s “Magic 92.5” is the best station than WGNY’s “Fox Oldies”.

I’m glad that WGNY is losing its listening audience to go over to either WGHQ and on WABC on weekends, and “Fox Oldies” is going down the toilet where they are being stuck at 50’s and 60’s oldies. Thanks WGHQ for doing such a tremendous job for playing 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and beyond. I’m very happy to have it on.

As for WGNY’s “Fox Oldies”, is a complete waste of time. And as I said, too much 50’s and 60’s oldies is wasted. But WGHQ and the other station, WBPM playing a lot of 70’s and 80’s with less 60’s.

Buffalo Bob coming in on “Fox Oldies” at 2:50PM on Monday was a waste of time, and the TOH newscast came early at 2:50PM instead of 3PM. What a terrible idea.

Not a terrible idea. One station I do some work for has it's legal id and top of hour newscast about 05-06 after... its a 90 second newscast, one commercial and right back to music.

While the other stations are doing news and commercials at top of hour, were doing music and when we break away for news, its short.

Not quite tough, and after listening to the station, the legal ID comes on at 2:49PM and then the newscast comes on, and then, Bob Corsino comes on at 2:55PM. That is way too early to come on, and yes! WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” is a time waster, and I am still never cared for playing too much 50’s and 60’s music with no 70’s. What a dumb move. I might as well go listen to WGHQ’s “Magic 92.5” for a much better oldies with a mix of 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with a little touch of the 2000’s, and as for “Fox Oldies”, not my cup of tea, and it’s still a time waster.

No, its not way too early... when other stations break for news and spots at the top of the hour, WGNY will be playing music.

Smart programming move.

Listeners will flip to find someone not doing spots or news

Wow..seems rather self centered of you to think a radio station should be programmed for your specific taste of music, and when a newscast should be scheduled. Sorry that WGNY didn't consult with you first before making changes, but radio does not revolve around you. There's obviously competition in that market when it comes to Oldies, and WGNY decided to focus on a specific "lane" of Oldies music to differentiate themselves. And as far a show starting 10 minutes early...well. you're just being petty.

Hey thanks, I really like WGNY! I didn't know about it until I saw the posts here. Listening on line.

And the big problem, they’re playing nothing but 50’s and 60’s oldies, that’s it! There no 70’s on the station anymore, because listeners might end up going to either WBPM or WGHQ’s “Magic 92.5” for their 70’s and 80’s fix, because WGHQ plays 50’s through the 80’s. This is where the station is going to compete with WGNY. There’s WKNY where they got oldies on Saturdays with Warren Lawrence, and you got WABC on weekends we got Bruce Morrow (aka Cousin Brucie) because I am a huge Cousin Brucie fan, and then Tony Orlando, and Vinnie Medugno as well, same goes on Sundays along with Joe Piscopo and Deana Martin.

I heard a legal TOH ID at 10:45AM and the newscast came on at 10:45AM instead of 11AM, what’s is going on here?! And of course, there’s Van Ritshie. He was supposed to do mornings on Thursday through Saturday mornings where the station is running jockless during mornings. What happened to him? Did he retire from radio? Either that, or I might be listening to Ben Patten on WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” starting January 2nd instead of Van Ritshie, or Bob Miller on WBPM instead of Van Ritshie.

Whoever some weasel are running this station needs to get fired, or sell the station to Pamal and put WGHQ’s “Magic” to 98.9, because 92.5 had a crummy signal where it reaches Poughkeepsie, and I hope 98.9 will reach Poughkeepsie when it comes to future ownership. I hope Sunrise will be filing for “Chapter 11” bankruptcy and it will go out of business starting in 2023.

WABC does a better job with oldies on weekends such as Vinnie Medugno, Cousin Brucie, Tony Orlando, Joe Piscopo and Deana Martin. I hope listeners of WGNY’s “Fox Oldies” might end up going to either WGHQ or WABC.

And I forgot one thing, Bob O starts at 9:45AM instead of 10AM right after Kevin Richards with with his “Classic Country Hall of Fame” show on WKBE’s “Big Country 107.1”. Bob Onwas supposed to start at 10AM, but I missed the first 10 minutes of the show after I finished listening to Kevin Richards. This is the first ever that Bob O started early which was 15 minutes before the hour. This station sucks!

What do you think?
