WGPA Artifacts Needed

[size=10pt]Hello Gentlemen,

Some of you may have heard of me, i'm sure many of you have not. My name is Jarret Brown and I have been working at WGPA for about 8 years now, and like many of you, I am very interested in Lehigh Valley radio history (WGPA especially). My "real" job in life is at Lehigh University in the Digital Media Studio producing videos, podcasts, and doing general audio and video production for the school and campus population. I am also an independant filmaker and under the encouragement of Jolly Joe I have recently begun researching the history of WGPA from its opening in Feb of 1947 right thru to the present and plan on creating a short documentary on the history of this station. I am currently in the information gathering stage of this production and was told this may be a good place to make some contacts that could help me. This is where you come in... I have gathered some good informational resources but am in need of some more visuals to give my video more depth. So if any of you have pics of the station (inside or out), old pictures of the console or studios, personalities, newspaper ads, etc. it would be greatly appreciated if I may borrow them for use in my documentary. Also, if anyone has any old airchecks or anything else relating to WGPA AM or WEZV FM that you think may be of interest to me dont hesitate to get in touch with me. My e-mail is [email protected] (all materials will be returned) In the future I will continue to post on this site to inform folks of my progress especially when it comes to the second phase which will involve shooting some in-studio interviews with former employees. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank You,
Jarret Brown

?hey jarrett how bout a 1953 aircheck of bob wolken or photos of wgpa banners and wezv banners? i also have some old airchecks of me in 1981 some with joe timmer.

regards,

todd mayor

Todd,

wow that was quick, yes all of those things could be very useful especially the Bob Wolken aircheck. As you know, it's really hard to tell the story of WGPA without spending a good while talking about Bob. The banners would be great as well along with your airchecks too. I will also want to speak to you regarding the early 80's airstaff. Mrs Chadwick has agreed to help with things realating to her late husband and with the help of youself and a few others, my strange little project may come together quicker than expected. please email me at [email protected] to arrange a way of getting the materials to me.

Thanks
Jarrett

And obviously I expect to be included in a good portion of the film.

I was P.D. of WGPA from November of 1986 through December of 1988. I might have Bob Wolken's voice on a couple of spots. When I started there as a part timer, J.J. Maurer (voice of NBC 10-Philly) was my P.D. Bob did mornings, Mary Beth (Hank's daughter) did mid-days, J.J. did afternoons, and I did 6pm to sign off. YOu can e-mail me at [email protected] if you'd like more info.
