WGPA...I was right....I should have made a bet....Pay up now.

Gosh...did I call that one or what?

WGPA needs some serious branding.
Maybe Ken couldve made it if there were more listeners.
Ive come to the conclusion that it nothing to do with the "talent"
With all due respect...."Its the branding, stupid"

Such a huge market.
Such a growing area
My prediction is that the next owner will be the one to bring the station back
I think it is the end of the Jolly Joe era (with due respect)
I think its time to sell
...or actually pay Mark Thomas and let him out of his cage.
He actually pretty good and has a good grip on music...dont you all think?

Can't the employees buy Joe out?

unfortunately, the next "owner" of WGPA as you call it will probably be some corporation like mega spanish or sports or something. it won't be local, which will be a shame.

as for mark thomas, the guy hardly talks between songs. mornings sound like an automated jukebox. timmer lets his dj's talk if they want and i don't hear thomas taking any initiative, so who's fault is it really? i may be reading the situation wrong, so correct me if i'm off base.

the employees buy joe out? LOL what, with their 5 dollars an hour? ::)

what WGPA needs is to find a happy medium between not taking dj freedom away (that's what WGPA is all about) but not turning it into corporate radio. turn the station into a 50s/60s oldies format, but let the dj's pick the music. call it 'sunny oldies 1100' or something and pick up all the disgruntled oldies 1470 fans. WGPA would see ratings in the 3's. and no reason to get rid of the polkas either. they make money. just place them at slightly more off hours, not right in the middle of the day.

the station only needs a few adjustments to be successful in my opinion.

There's so much more I can add to this but I will refrain. I have to move on. As somebody said to me, get off the pot. Im a radio mark! I have to let go. I either need to walk in the doors of Clear Channel and see if I can get something there or move. I tried to move before but my head was not in the right place. Now I think it is. This is it! This next month is crucial.
