kudos to the sunday morning jock at WGPA i think it was dennis christman who actually did local news after the USA network news at the top of the hour. why is it the only time you hear local news on this station is on sunday? shouldn't that be a requirement of a small full-service AM station? how do they expect to compete against WAEB if they don't even cover local news. you gotta give people a reason NOT to have to turn the dial and not doing local news is a big reason to turn the dial. i think the morning jocks during the week need to wake up and take the initiative or mr. timmer should require it.
 
i've never met the guy. his posts are a hoot but he seems to take the business seriously. i heard him on the weekends in my travels to as the old dutchemen and hunkies say lehigh walley and seems to to do a good job. i think it is sad if you can't deliver news on any am station from a local standpoint even it is r and r (rip and read) shame on you. my fisrt gig in 1978 at whol it was not mandatory...but i did it. public interest license...etc. hats off to my man microphonemaster dennis!
 
Thanks for the kind words. I had been meaning to do it for a while. With the resources available and extra time in the spring/summer I felt that it was a good idea. It really does'nt take much to go to mcall.com in addition to WFMZ and find some relevant stories. Im pretty good at putting stuff in my own words and determining what is newsworthy. It makes thing more interesting. Even with the time soon to get shorter I will try to continue doing this.
