Just count the uh's and um's.

KM averages 16 in a 3 three minute period.

Not good for talk radio...unless the LV bar isnt too high.
 
At least he speaks grammatically correct. There were many times when Angle would mispeak and sound like a fool! Mathews is more educated and intelligent!
 
It's hard to listen to the Uh's and Um's.
I hope he listens to himself and corrects this.
An "experienced" jock shouldnt have this "college station" habit...however I do wish him the best ....with Timmer. He's gonna need it.

Big difference between talking 5 seconds over the intro of a song, to basically a 10 or so minute clip to separate stopsets. Give the guy a break!!! It's a new challenge for him. I'm sure most of us, whether at a new station or on our first gig, that wouldn't pay to do it all again.
 
i listened today for the first time and he sounds damn good. whats the problem? this guy actually sounds like someone i could listen to everyday. not that angle guy or even worse bobby gunther walsh. this matthews show has potential. i hope he and timmer market it well. i think this could beat gunther walsh in the ratings in a few years.

i guess i should mention what about the show i like. he sounds like a nice middle of the road guy. no right wing fox news alert blah blah blah. no left wing 'the world is wonderful hug a tree' baloney. matthews actually sounds like the kinda of guy i'd vote into office.
 
I agree with you. He does have a nice sound. It is hard going from DJ to talk.

I just think you should polish your brass BEFORE you go on the air.
The "uhs' and "ums" drive me nuts. Sounds like a freshman college radio jock.

Holding down? More like a chokehold deathgrip! I miss Bob. He was as dependable as our 5:00 PM December sign-offs. Seeriously though. I wonder what would have become of Bob if he ever would have lost his job at WGPA. He didn't drive. He walked to work every day. i don't think there would have been another station within walking distance for him.
WGPA was a great learning ground back then. It was a place where a young 19 year old kid could say "File-buster" in a newscast and Hank Chadwick wouldn't bite your head off. Hank's biggest concern was a part-timer playing Zeppelin and scaring away 3 of our 567 listeners. How times have changed. Ron Angle would have terrified Hank, and Mary would have had a coronary.
 
Yeah...but one would think that this is just a place for Mathews to hang his hat until an opening occurs at one of the larger sticks in town.
