Don't think you're missing much by missing ESPN's national feed on 550 and 950, to tell you the truth...leaving aside that a lot of people like Bulldog Parker (although some prefer him as a solo act, like he used to be on WBEN).

Stations go off the air all the time. It's called transmitter failure. You call the engineer; he goes to the transmitter; flips a switch and Voila the station is back on the air! It happened to me more than once in my career. So why is this such a big deal?

Internet or not, the fun of saying "how do we say we're not on the air if we're not on the air" is sooo dead thanks to several sister stations in the same market.

Because this is a radio board read by radio geeks far and wide and inquiring minds want to know.

(a) board-op spilled full can of Rock Star into new board
(b) remote control, STL or phone lines went down
(c) back-up transmitter didn't power up at legendary Big Tree site, baked hamster found in power supply
(d) board-op locked in men's room
(e) Greg Greed calls immediate all hands on deck staff meeting to announce purchase of new yacht

This is too funny, thanks for the laugh! Baked hamster....yum!

f) Howard Simon finally garrotted Jeremy White after one too many interruptions. Somebody needs to remind Mr. White that it's the HOWARD SIMON SHOW, and let Howard actually finish a freakin' sentence.

1520 was a great oldies station. It needed more live announcers though, not just morning.
