WGRV-LP 93.1 Granted Dark STA

A benchmark programmed LPFM, WGRV-LP (Jazz) has hit some pretty insurmountable hurdles.

Last Monday, they filed and got a 6 month dark STA. Check the website thegroove dot org for their version. Apparently, the concerts on the beach resort were essential income. Donors were not enough to keep it going.

The separately owned translator on Cocoa Beach (103.3) has a big fine which can be read about in the FCC's enforcement bureau's orders (earlier this year). (antenna had higher gain than the license authorized)

It didn't help that the water tower is being torn down which is still the licensed site. An alternative site was found but fell through. A third site had the app dismissed for being short spaced to a 1st adjacent translator.

I think the guys are tenacious enough to figure out a way to return to the airwaves. They love their "calling" and gave Brevard a great jazz product.

I'm assuming "Energy 107.9" in Palm Bay is also dark, since that station is also run by the same people in the same building?
Very sad to hear about this.
