WGST layoffs?

Well, looks like WGST is fried. By losing their flagship radio show, their ratings are going to tank.

I would personally flip the station to rock as a testing ground, and wait for the response. Then, if the response on social media is positive, swap 640 and 105.3, put El Patron on 640, and the rock station on 105.3.

Wow, I can't believe how many threads are on here about this...

Anyway, what about Spanish moving to 640 and a new format at 105.3? My understanding is that a lot of the Spanish-speaking population has left the area with the down economy as well as new laws that have affected a portion of them.

Left the area, are you kidding??????

Listened to the station most of the day of IHeartRadio, and my Spidey Sense was tingling when they went with the full newscasts from Fox News at the top and bottom of the hours without any local news.

Plus, there was a spot break that overapped a portion of Glenn Beck's show. I was able to hear Beck and Rush. Just turned on IHeartRadio (6:33 Eastern) and F. Mark Levine's show is still on. Is IHeart broadcasting the talk shows differently from the air signal? I'm nowhere near Atlanta to tune in over the air.

Such a shame. I just started listening a few weeks ago, and really liked their product.

I can't see anybody putting Spanish sportstalk or any other kind of Spanish spoken word on WGST.  There just ain't no there there and someone else would have done it first.  Those that have gone before have not been successful (or at least not "successful" as the 4 C's define it) long-term.

My guess would be comedy or canned news.  Canned news would get killed by AN106.7 and WSB, but CC is stupid enough to try.

Cumulus (actually, Citadel) gave CC a big ol' early Christmas gift when they flipped Eagle out of the country format, giving Bull a chance.  Maybe CC is returning the favor.

Glenn Beck to 920?  Heck, 920 may have an all-star lineup before they know it.  And those who don't like Boortz may tune in to 920 and leave it there all day.

What would be interesting, and I do NOT see it happening, is if CC moves Patron to 640.  That would free up another FM for alt or AAA or classic hits.

Meanwhile, the real flip watch will continue to be on 105.7.

Where will Rush be tomorrow and Friday?

Oh, and CC will get rid of the second oldest callsign in the city. Count on it.
