WGST Program Director is.....

Randall Bloomquist will be the new program director for WGST. He will be the ninth program director for the Kimmer (!)

Question---what should Bloomquist do to turn WGST around?

ALL ACCESS hears that ABC Talk WMAL-A/WASHINGTON PD RANDALL BLOOMQUIST is exiting to rejoin CLEAR CHANNEL as PD at Talk WGST-A/ATLANTA, where he will replace the departed BRUCE COLLINS.

BLOOMQUIST's departure follows the high-profile departure of midday host MICHAEL GRAHAM after comments about Islam and complaints from the COUNCIL FOR AMERICAN-ISLAMIC RELATIONS prompted the station to suspend, then fire him. Prior to WMAL, BLOOMQUIST programmed CLEAR CHANNEL's WRVA-A/RICHMOND and JEFFERSON-PILOT's WBT-A-F/CHARLOTTE.

If CC's big kahuna, aka Mr.Hobbs had no impact on stealing shares from 750, a PD with a track record of not even having his past stations crack the top 10 25-54 doesn't have a prayer.

It appears he knows how to do the job when he is allowed to do it. Then, let's allow him do his job.

(But, as long as you're asking. First thing: change the call letters to "WSBB".)

Look for former WMAL talk host Michael Graham to show up in Atlanta. Bloomquist brought him to DC and will likely bring him to GST. Kimmer may not be long for GST -- Bloomquist could move Denny Shaffer to PM drive to make room for Graham.

I was going to post the exact same thing before I read your post. According to rumor, when Graham was recently fired from WMAL for his remark about Islamic people, Bloomquist was against the GM's decision to fire Graham, causing a rift. Bloomquist and Graham are supposedly best of buddies. In fact, Graham worked for Bloomquist at Bloomquist's last 3 stations, WBT, WRVA and WMAL.

This is all very possible. Gabe Hobbs is also a fan of Michael Graham. But don't be surprised if one of these guys ends up in morning drive to replace Hughes and Kimmer stays in the afternoon.

Randall is a good talk radio guy and will be his own man. Hopefully, they will allow him to make some changes. Everyone in Clear Channel knows how screwed up that station has become for the past several years.

Would asking Boortz how much longer his WSB contract lasts be a positive change?

Exactly when is hell supposed to freeze over?

It would have nothing to do with Randall. It would have everything to do with Clear Channel vs. Cox. Who would YOU rather work for? Cox wins by a mile in my book.
