WGST's "Babe of the day"

Driving in early this morning, I heard a promo on GST, telling the audience to "wake up in the morning with 2 boobs." It goes on to say it's not Randy and Spiff, but the WGST "Babe of the day" on their website.

Is this what they're resorting to now? This used to be a respected news/talk station, and now they're pushing for listeners by posting bikini-clad women on their website??

I'd say it's unbelievable, but, sadly, it's not.

By the way, I did check out the pictures. Well, not quite all of them. I ran out of quarters.

Now if WGST engineering can only figure out a way to use radio energy to transport these pornographic images directly to our homes and cars.....holigraphic images which will actually wiggle and squirm in 3D......right there in front of my slack jaw face.....then I'll listen to WGST again!
Imagine all the traffic accidents from "In-car[EDIT] " It won't be Capt'n Herb's toe [EDIT]
We might as well admit it. Sex sells!! If you want to attract male listeners/viewers then sex is the key. News/Talk??? Blood, dead babies, gang rape of innocent suburban women - it's been the origin of news/talk ratings for years....just like the 6PM news. Why pick on poor WGST for using that approach? Finally, someone over there figured out the "primal radio urges"........

[EDIT-offensive content]

That's another stupid website feature that Clear Channel came up with. They put that on pretty much any station's website that they think is attracting a mostly-male audience. In Birmingham, it's also on CC-owned 1055thevulcan.com (but we also get Thong of the Day, Rate My Can, and Who Would U Do?) ::)

I dont get it.

For all the GST does wrong, this is a right move. You are driving what male listeners are left to the website. That's good for ads. That's using the technology instead of ignoring it, like they have for the past 8 years. Website's cant make or break a station, but they can help a suffering one.

Give credit where it's due. ;)

OK, I admit that after reading this I had to check it out. Now I feel kinda dirty. Even though it is the softest of soft porn -- it sure feels sleazy to be on a public site that promotes a radio station.

Relax...CC uses this feed on a number of its station sites, usually rock or classic rock but also some bug respected and top rated news/talks like WTAM, Cleveland.
