WGTG Tchula flips to classic rock from urban

Looks like little WGTG in Tchula (Greenwood area) has flipped to a loose classic rock format from rap and hip-hop.

Seems like an odd choice considering the dominant signal of Bob-FM, and WGNL moving their stick out of Greenwood... But as I've learned, nothing in delta radio makes much sense. ;)

And WABG-AM is also flipping to classic rock today (Monday) according to the local paper. Actually, from the sound of the two articles in the Commonwealthboth stations will be playing "what we want." How crazy is that? Both stations will be unsuccessful. WGNG would be better off simulcasting with WGNL, especially now that the WGNL transmitter has been moved way up in the boondocks (How crazy is that?). At least the right wing tlk is off WABG...

Now that WGNL has gotten their antenna gremlins sorted, the signal has improved tremendously in Grenada and Greenwood. But I agree, a GNL-GNG simulcast would be sensible, considering the demographics.

Wonder if they'll finally fix the audio on WABG-AM? It didn't matter whether it was right wing or left wing talk - no one could hear it anyway. If it weren't for it being so quiet, it might be a viable signal here in Grenada. No matter your politics (and I didn't care for any of the talk shows on WABG) it woulda been nice for the area to have an alternative, even if all syndicated, to the junk on Supertalk. ::)

I've heard some songs I would render out of place on WGNG. "This Is the Time" by Billy Joel is classic rock? That's something I'd hear on WBAQ.
