WGTX 102.3 Truro is Stunting

The station will be relaunching on Thursday April 1st at 6AM. By the look of its Facebook header logo im thinking that'll have a Reggae music on the new format.

well I hope the whales, seals and Great White sharks like the format because 80% of their coverage is over open ocean.

They are broadcasting to a whole lot of nothing 9 months out of the year.....
 
They are a pretty reliable tropo pickup during the summer, however. I spend summers in Narragansett, RI, and WGTX often fights it out with WMOS/Stonington, CT.
 
April Fools Day is an odd day to stop stunting and start a new format.

Why not wait till 4/2 or 4/5 to launch the new format ?

It so happens that the April survey period (for both Diary and PPM) starts on Thursday 4/1/2021.
Figure that they want to hit the ground running.
Granted, there may not be much ratings-based ad business for this particular outlet to begin with.

There are several stations around the country that are changing format on April Fool's Day;
to be determined if they're indeed all for real.

They may go in more a Variety Hits format direction with on-air staff. Pjc1961 posted the test site has a section of YouTube music videos: Bruno Mars-Locked out of Heaven and Fine Young Cannabals-She Drives Me Crazy to name two. That Bruno Mars song is Hot AC which you'd normally hear on WCOD. And the other song is from the 80s and something you'd normally hear on WFRQ.

Thanks for the links 👍 so far HD2 and HD3 as of 7:20pm are still not working. But I've been listening to HD1. And have access to the test site.
 
So WGTX has officially flipped its Classic Hits format to a Vareity Hits format.

Complaints on their facebook about signal.Surely
they can only do so much what with other stations on or near their frequency.A lot goes out to sea. Radio-locator map of approx signal shows they do reach at least some of the Cape
with local, distant, or fringe signal.
 
@Ack73Weather: "well apparently the new X1023 is a classic hits station with 5 decades of music more like an amped jack FM. Stephanie is the morning drive weekdays. other local talent also rest of the day. Classic hits is too common in this market. nothing on the HD formats yet.
