WGTX-AM 890 Freeport

If I am not mistaken, didn't for former WGTX-AM 1280 Defuniak Springs have a construction permit to change its frequency to 890 and COL to Freeport? If so, was the CP ever built out, or was that simply a CP that never materialized?

AT ONE TIME THERE WAS A CP FOR A STATION ON 890 WHICH WAS TO BE A 50KW DAY TIMER IN LONGWOOD, PART OF THE ORLANDO METRO. I THINK IT IS STILL ACTIVE.

Yes, I knew about the Longwood CP. That is currently an application from Family Radio for 50kw-Daytime only with two towers directional. At one time, there was an actual CP issued to Family Radio for the same 890 with 50kw-Daytime and 500 Watts-night-time using, I think, 6-towers at night. That CP expired, and Family Radio applied, again, for the same facilities, only this time as a daytimer. I thought that to be odd since I was under the impression that the FCC was no longer accepting applications for any new class D AM stations.

The Freeport CP, however, I remember seeing someback back, and it had the call letters WGTX, possibly for 5kw-daytime. At the same time, I saw nothing on 1280 in Defuniak Springs, so I assumed it was a CP to re-license the Defuniak Springs 1280 to Freeport with the 890 frequency. I didn't see anything on ether station for a while, then 1280 re-appeared as WDSP in Defuniak SPrings once again.

Here's some filler to read until one of the big guns fills in the blanks:

One of the two Defuniak Springs AM's had a CP to move to Freeport on a low frequency, possibly 890. That was years ago and it didn't/hasn't happened. The new station would have had to take a significant power reduction to move south of Defuniak Springs and it looked like it would be still be too far north of the beaches to be of any value. My guess would be that your asking about a 10 year old application that was approved but allowed to expire.
