WGVC doesn't make the GSP ratings again - what's next?

Monday at noon they will reveal the new format.

1063wgvc.com

Update:
Listening to the stream I've heard

DJ Kool-Let Me Clear My Throat
Ludacris-Money Maker
Akon-Smack That

well, when I just tuned in for the first time and they were playing country. but they could just be trying to fool us.

Smoke and Mirrors.

New format every top of hour.

I imagine they'll do:
Oldies
Talk
Hardcore Urban
Urban AC
Christian
Rhythmic AC
Comedy

before Monday. We'll have to wait and see.

I wonder if Variety Hits will be in the roster, since 'Charlie' was a rumored format. This stunt is much better than that dead sounding man counting down...

They could bring back it walk format country/christain

Geez not another country format LoL. I doubt that is what it will be unless it's rock/country (would affect ROQ and TPT though) or classic country. A full blown Urban/hip-hop outlet wouldn't hurt, but then again we have FBC to contend with. JUST GO BACK TO OLDIES ENTERCOM! Give the people what they want.

What? And admit that they were wrong to drop it in the first place? Never. It's not in their DNA. There is no suspense. It's 1063charliefm, "We Play Everything".

Oldies? Nah.

The demographics aren't good anymore.

("Give the people what they want?" Says who? You're a research sample of one. Others may agree, but still others will have other ideas.)

Put WEEI on it out of Boston, MA. Im sure their are many people in SC that want to hear the Red Sox, lol. Just saying that as Entercom has put WEEI in other markets up North around the Boston area and New England. :)

But really I think they should maybe go Urban and be like Power 98 in Charlotte, NC. Power 98 does try to pull in some numbers in the market. I think it would be a good idea and plus Entercom would be going up against Cox's Rhythmic station in the market.

It's obvious you're not from the Greenville/Spartanburg market. This is a smaller market where a format such as oldies does work, just look at the success of WGVC before Entercom flipped it.

After WGVC went off the air, oldies formats were picked up on 1510am, 1070am, and part-time on Davidson's 103.3 WOLT, which is amazing for a company that runs mostly hispanic and religious paid programming.

Look at the success of WMYI after oldies went off WGVC. They even finished #1 in the market in one of the books.

There is a demand for the oldies format in this market, and there are the listeners and advertisers to support it.

Two friends of mine are programmers, one there and one nearby. Neither see it happening.

I don't see it happening either. Under a different owner, I could see it happening. But Entercom isn't big on Oldies stations.

Seems more like they are looking for cutting edge or modern formats. The Christian/Country hybrid format failed, Women's Talk bombed, and now they will try out Charlie.

I think Oldies is the better choice, but perhaps variety hits will at least show up in the ratings books and bring in some demographics younger than Oldies.

Barnstable seemed to go out and target a lot of local advertisers, which is what you have to do with oldies stations. Entercom wants to package this station to advertisers with their other stations I guess.

And Charlie's a lot less expensive too.

Some Oldies people would be happy with a Charlie. It wouldn't be their first choice if there were an Oldies station, but without one....

...and yeah, it could be run off a laptop, if you really wanted to!

Very true! Again, saving money is the priority here. I always wondered when Entercom acquired these stations if they would of put Planet on 106.3 and country on 93.3. I was very surprised they didn't do that.
