WGY dead air....

Nice job WGY....Blanketing 40 states with dead air last night for a couple of hours instead of Coast To Coast. Fortunately I was able to pick it up clearly on WTIC instead....I guess this is what happens when a legendary 50,000 watt station becomes a walk away operation...

Day/night – 2 hours/24 hours what’s the difference? The dead air WGY usually plays is just a little noisier. Mornings on the dying beast, now that’s dead air! I guess it’s to their credit that someone even noticed. This will be followed by a few more dumb promos and another empty but “prestigious” award for keeping the tower lights on. It’s pathetic the way CC has run her into the ground.

Its too bad the station has been cut to the bone. When I first got into the business, WGY maintained a full staff of operating engineers; so you had an engineer in the control room 24/7. Of course with the advent of combo operations and finally the so-called walk-away operations, its painfully evident of what the station has become.
