WGY is 7th in Fall ratings.

Just looking over the Arbitron ratings for Fall and WGY is 4.9 down from 7.6 and #2 spot. Is this partly due to 103.1? If so WGY-FM has a 1.7.

And it looks like WOFX-AM failed to rank due to WTMM-FM, and the Christmas music on 105.7 failed to lure in (or drove away) listeners too :p

Cat Country still isn't doing very well (WGNA is still on top), and Bridge inched up a bit but is still behind EQX (a rimshot from Vermont) and the Buzz. Hasn't Pamal realized yet that they'll never win against WGNA? Even Froggy is better (which actually ranked in the Albany market too)... and the Bridge actually eats into B95 too...

Of course, I doubt there'll be any format change at 980... it's more likely something'll change at 104.9 and 100.9 sometime in 2011 :p

BTW, anyone know when/if Albany will get the PPM? They're probably not high-priority since they're not a top 50 market, so...

Market 51-75 will probably go live in 2012 or 2013 at the earliest.
In other words, not any time soon, if at all. Sample size, too expensive and CRMC accreditation, among other obstacles. Add WGY-FM (1.7) to the AM (4.9) numbers and the Persons 12+ are more realistic (6.6) which is up from Fall '09 (6.4) but down from Summer '10 (7.6). In this regard, it's not good because Summer is traditionally a "soft book" for News-Talk. It could be that listeners moved from AM to FM. Other than this, I'll leave the commentary and speculation to the market experts here.

Even though Arbitron doesn't officially combine the WGY AM & FM shares, it's logical to do so. Which gives the combo a 6.6. Respectable showing but it's strange that the numbers for a news/talk station should be down from Spring & Summer especially given the midterm election chatter throughout Sept & Oct and with all the hype about Don Weeks' impending departure. When a legend is leaving a station, it usually gets a nice bump.

Not only has WGY-AM/FM rated 6.6, it's also pushed up Q103, PYX and even EQX a bit with the transition from Channel 103.1 to WGY-FM. I wish Pamal would simulcast WKBE on one of their Albany signals (either 100.9 or 104.9) or bring back Z104.9 (not the Edge, I'll always associate that name with 103.9) to get back in the rock format market... especially with the Bridge not doing so hot even after almost a year (can't believe it's been almost a year since Magic left FM for the ex-talker WROW 590 AM signal and Cat Country replaced Pamal's Edge).

Depending upon when the switch was made, that can affect the numbers seen in the ratings grid. That could be why the AM & FM are reported separately (for now, since they weren't completely simulcast for the 3 month period).

For 2 stations to be listed on the same reporting line, they must be 100% simulcast (even commercials included) with no breaks in programming. That will most likely be the case going forward.

I didn't catch who it was but one of the guys filling in for Mr. Custer while he was off during Christmas week really made me laugh in how he phrased things. This sub gave the morning shift some needed bounce. He may have been one of Clear Channel's FM jocks. Did WGY make a mistake in not bringing in a fresh morning host who really knows how to be funny AND informative to pep up the show? Chuck's a nice guy and great newscaster but he's relatively boring. Sorry.

It was Tred Hulse CC 99.5 The River, you hit the nail on the head, they should of got a new talent to take over for Don Weeks. Chuck Custer is a News Guy, not a morning show host. Same with Kelly a newscaster.

I think WGY has made a mistake their new morning show. Chuck would be fine if they had hired a more dynamic partner for him. But Kelly Lynch is waaaay too conservative (and I don't mean politically) to spice up the show. I loved Don and Chuck together so I was more than willing to give Chuck a chance but he needs someone fun to bounce off of. So far Kelly Lynch isn't it.
