After the station dropping them from the website, and the hosts changing their social media headers removing any reference to the show, Levack and Goz are back from 3-6pm claiming they were not let go.
iHeart usually could care less about public outcry, they only care about $$$. Must have been a client/clients threatening to pull money from other stations? Good win for local radio that they are back.
Across the hall, the 50,000watt News/Talker and flagship has a pre-recorded morning show from hundreds of miles away. Bob Lonnsberry doing mornings on WHAM/Rochester and afternoons on WSYR/Syracuse in addition to recording mornings in Albany. Each morning he says he doesn't know how much longer, was only supposed to be a day or two. Morning newscasts appear to be recorded as well now. Newscaster doesn't even take a breath between stories and his words are on top of each other to make the time limit.
I think what we will see is one of them coming over from 980 to do the WGY morning show. Makes sense, give them a couple bucks extra and still save thousands in salary.
Can we still count on WGY to be there for live coverage of local emergencies? It seems unlikely.
Have not heard Jim Gagliardi recently. Was he part of the cuts? He's a 50+ year market veteran.
