WGY sounding rather 'small market' now

Ok, I dont know which is more annoying - that homely sounding dude that voices the Advantage Suzuki TV spots, or the two kids that voice the spots for WGY. I mean really, both of them (male & female) have the most grating sound... who put them on the air? Both dont sound a day over 21, and esp. the male kid... all of his spots are edited between *every* sentence! How f'ing annoying to listen to that! With all of the QUALIFIED voice talent in this area without a job, it's sad & disgracful that WGY relys on college kids with terrible mic presence who cant complete more than 1 sentence at a time for the station's imaging (yes, spots *do* contribute to a station's imaging).

Speaking of bad sound - hey Dave Abdoo.... We already know how you've signle handedly destroyed the audio quality of the CC stations here, and apparently the status quo continues at 103.1. WTH?? AM processing on an FM station? Dave... get your hearing checked, or least for the love of God have somebody who *can* hear set those freakin processors! Most every one of your stations is unlistenable!!! It's a sad day when we have to admit that 1300 sounds better than 810, and it's even sadder to admit that *every* other FM station in eastern NY sounds better than 103.1. (also: Why bother running that HD exciter? Crap is crap in analog or digital... may as well turn it off on both transmitters.)

It's bad enough to only have 4 hours of local programmng on WGY daily M-F, but when these other things are factored in, our once crown jewel of broadcasting in this area is starting to sound more like some cheaply run graveyarder in east podunk. What a shame....

Most stations today have irritating ads and all of them seem to run the yokels yelling "HUGE" adnauseum. Where WGY is defaming their storied history is in having 90% of it's programming devoted to right wing clones. They are now just one cog in the Clear Channel machine which doesn't care at all about WGY's legacy.

Albany radio as a whole is a mess... first they move Magic, a highly-successful soft AC/standards radio station, to AM (why?) and then put a Cat Country station on 104.9 (Cat Country against a heritage WGNA? -_-). Does Pamal really think putting Magic on FM is bad for B95's ratings? If so, why not put a hotter AC mix on 95.5 if that's the case, and put Magic on 104.9? And don't get me started on the Bridge and its 1.0 ratings... if anything, they should've brought back the WKBE simulcast that was around from 1996 to 2001 instead...

105.7 has been nothing but a waste since the signal was moved in from Queensbury, as WBZZ has been tanking in the ratings for the past couple of years. I think if they did go CHR (even CHR/Rhythmic or CHR/Rock) after Christmas, it'd be the final nail in Kiss 102.3's coffin. 102.3 really could use an AC format, perhaps modeled after WLTW 106.7 in New York City =)

Wonder if 105.7 should go after the WHRL, WHTR or WXLE calls if either of them are still available, and if Clear Channel will let Regent use WHRL. =P

I think 105.7 should go for a magic like format. As I once said before, call it 'Magnificent 105.7" That would really put a nail in 590's coffin. They might want to put a satellite fed format on 590 like the classic country format that is on Pamal's 1410 in S. Glens Falls. Its cheap programming, so they could work with lower overhead. What to replace formats on 104.9 and 100.9? Beats the he** out of me.

I would say a decent oldies station to compete with wtry and a dance station that plays dance from the 70s to now like KTU used to do in nyc.

Wouldn't shock me if that was being planned - especially after a ratings dip following the conversion from FM.
