WHAM IBOC off - because of the series?

I noticed it last night when I turned on WHAM to hear the baseball play-by-play while I still had the TV on. The IBOC delay was not there as it was this weekend. I tried WPHT to hear the Phillies announcers and their IBOC delay made the radio broadcast at least one pitch behind the actual game.

It reminded me of a '40s era movie where some gamblers intercepted and delayed a sports tickertape line to a bookie so they could make real-time bets before the bookie got the actual results. Needless to say, they cleaned up.

Happy to say that it's still off this morning. [/wishful thinking]

I remember reading about a similar situation in Chicago not that long ago. The issue wasn't IBOC delay, but the standard profanity delay. This was shortly after the "wardrobe malfunction," when stations were running scared of the FCC. Some radio station in Chitown had to make an exception to run sporting events without the delay in place, and the reason for it was to keep betting honest.
