I think WHAM should have their 5PM newshour expand to start at 4PM, but I don't you would schedule that to keep the Rush fans happy. I love listening to the news in my car during rush hour and I usually listen channel 10's news on 1040 in the evenings but when I'm driving before five, it's a little differcult to get a decent update.

It is going to be interesting to see what happens to the WHAM call letters on Channel 13 once the new owners take over. I mean do they want to be affiliated with WHAM 1180 radio, which is owned by another company? It would be nice if 13 went back to their old call letters (WOKR). As for broadcasting TV newscasts over the radio, I am against it. Look how many radio reporters are out of work because there are radio stations that find it less expensive to carry TV news rather than hire a live person.dustintv said:

In Charlotte we have WSOC-FM owned by CBS and WSOC-TV owned by Cox. There used to be a WSOC-AM but that disappeared a long time ago.

Simulcasting television news on radio is a low budget maneuver. In context, it may be better than airing Ask The Dentist, but generally speaking, it does little for the AM station that's airing the TV newscast. There isn't a local TV news department that takes into consideration the fact that the newscast is being aired on radio, which requires specialized writing and editing. CNN Headline News accomplished the video-audio process better than most. This is a result of a stylebook and production mandate that comes from the top.

WOKR-FM Remsen, has been bought by a religious pay to pray group. It has had many call signs thru out the years so it really shouldn't be a problem to return the calls to Ch. 13. WIXT is held by another soon to be sold Clear Channel station in Little Falls. It should make everyone happy if the heritage calls WLFH were returned to 1230 AM and WIXT were returned to CH. 9 in Syracuse.
