WHAM jumps on Fox News/CC bandwagon

The 11:30 news intro said that Fox News is coming soon to WHAM, answering the question as to whether the station would join the CC/Fox agreement. I wonder if they will be running the network cast during the daytime, or just run it at night and on weekends as they do with CBS?

This news should not come as any surprise considering that Clear Channel and FOX announced this alliance a while ago.

While no one at WHAM has said a word to me, I can only guess that the station will replace CBS newscasts with those from FOX and then use FOX audio sound bytes during their local/national news on the hour and half-hour during the week days.

Now I remember when WHAM carried ABC information news. I just loved that great opening theme ABC-I had, plus the super-processed voices of their newscasters like George Ingle. Ah the good old days at the bunker at 350 East Avenue. Now these “kids”, like Bill Lowe, (cough cough) get to work in brand new studios with windows overlooking the city.

Which raises another question---who gets to use CBS News now? Since WXXI-AM, which is the #2 news/talker in the market, can't use a commercial network, the logical choices are either WROC/950 or WYSL/1040. 'YSL will actually have the better daytime signal soon, so that might be the station that ends up with it.
