WHAM on XM?

As part of Clear Channel's new agreement with XM, they will be providing five regional news/talk channels for satellite in late spring or early summer.

This appears to be similar to the arrangement where WLW is now on XM.

If they use existing content, the candidates for material for the Northeast regional channel would appear to be:

WHAM, WGY and WHJJ.

However, unlike WLW, not one of these stations is 100% local.

Maybe they will carry a bit from each station.

I can see XM carrying Bob Matthews sports program. The only other local shows that I know of on WHAM are Beth and Chet in the morning, and Lonsberry. (Is WHAM still carrying that local computer show on the weekends; the one that used to be on WXXI; Sound Bytes I think it was called?)

Wouldn't you agree that those two shows might be too local for XM, or is that what XM is looking for? The reason I'm asking is that I do not subscribe to satellite radio so I have no idea what either XM or Sirius carries.<P ID="signature">______________

The problem with this arrangement is that several shows would have to be replaced - Limbaugh and Savage don't want their shows on satellite without their consent, for instance. Replacement filler would have to be found.

Clear Channel's very involvement with XM makes me so happy that I signed up for Sirius instead. I bought satellite radio to get AWAY from companies like Clear Channel and their sorry excuses for a radio station.

But a big hunk of Sirius is owned by CBS. I am afraid you just can't beat'em.

Let me modify my statement: "I bought satellite radio to get AWAY from Clear Channel and its sorry excuses for a radio station."

Better? So I did beat 'em!
