WHAS 840 back to ABC News?

Sounds like they are back to ABC Radio news. New jingles, weather on the 10's and not the 4's in the morning.

Cool.. Now I can get the weather and traffic at the beginning of the news cast, then punch out back to FM without having to listen to the whole news cast. Was getting perturbed that I had to listen to two to three minutes of spots to get to the weather at the end of the newscast.

Another thing I noticed was Saturday morning's news at 7:30 am was recorded. They played the 6:30 newscast (again). He teased next news at 7:00. The newscast was no more than 30 seconds at that... Nothing in depth. Two headlines and that was it!!!!

They seem to have slightly repositioned themselves. The morning show is now known as "Kentuckiana's Morning News with Tony Cruise" instead of the historical "Morning Team" name. This matches the morning show branding of other iHeart stations. Also, their slogan has changed to "Kentuckiana's Breaking News, Weather, and Traffic Station" with the addition being "breaking". Is this merely a slogan change or does it imply less news programming except for breaking news? Finally, the news segments seem to be much shorter. For example, I remember the days when local news, traffic, stocks, and weather at 5PM would last 10-12 minutes. Then, it would be 8-10 minutes with Fox News taking a big chunk. There was no national segment from ABC today and Terry Meiners was back on by 5:04.

I guess they will be doing the same for WLAP in Lexington soon. Still FOX News at the top and bottom of the hour.

Overnights are really strange on WHAS now.At the top of the hour is ABC News and it ends at 3 minutes past the hour. Then the weather report is on and at 4 minutes past the hour the last 2 minutes of Fox News is broadcast. At the bottom of the hour is also Fox News.I'm guessing that ABC News is only 3 minutes long and they need to fill 6 minutes. It's just strange to hear a mixed news report from ABC and FOX.I've never heard anything like that before.

Letting Kelly Carls walk out of that building was the worst thing that could have happened to WHAS. He understood if it ain't broke don't fix it. This new sound of WHAS is not connecting with listeners and it keeps showing trend after trend. Even in an election year when WHAS would sometimes record double digits, they are instead at historic lows. Sad really.
