I was listening to WHAS this afternoon and heard local news. On a Sunday afternoon! What's up with that? I thought there was no local news on "The Big 84" from Saturday morning until Monday morning. It was good to hear. Hope it continues.

Why would they broadcast Friday's news today? Stupid question I know. I guess I was so shocked to hear local news on a Sunday, I didn't pay attention to the stories :greg.hahn said:radiofan502 said:I was listening to WHAS this afternoon and heard local news. Are you sure it was today's news and not from Friday? :![]()

All I know is that I was passing through Louisville on a Sunday between 4-5PM maybe 6-7 years ago and there was a 4 mile traffic jam on 65 northbound. Next day I heard it was a multiple fatality, multiple vehicle accident. WHAS had 2 minutes of network news, a local spot or two, 2 minutes of KNN news featuring a story about cattle being loose on the road 175 miles SE of Louisville and no weather forecast. I was not the only one of the thousands stuck in that traffic that came away with "Depend On It" being an empty promise. Even a convenience store is willing to pay someone minimum wage to offer several dozen people a fountain drink on Sunday afternoon, but apparently WHAS is unwilling to pay someone to offer a couple hundred thousand people needed information. By that definition, Thornton's is a better public servant than Clear Channel is....and that's sad.radioville said:It's obvious you guys aren't regular listeners on Sunday's. I'm a regular listener to Dave Ramsey from noon-3 and their has always been local news at the top of each hour. It's been this way for years.

BobOnTheJob said:I did read that CC is treating their Large markets differently than their Medium and Small markets now. And they consider Louisville a Large market, but Indy is medium. That makes a lot of sense ???. Perhaps the long slide in WHAS' reputation is starting to stabilize or even reverse? If so, it sure took long enough!

I'm an engineer too Greg, but I no longer trust calls...my key ring is full of 92.7, 102.9, 107.3 etc keys. I found that call letters aren't nearly as constant as frequencies are.greg.hahn said:Dan76 said:SFR? I thought it was "The Eagle" now? LOL
I'm an engineer. Call letters still reign supreme with me.![]()
