Or Don't Depend on it, Clear Channel doesn't make money with 24/7 news.

The odd thing is, WLW seems to be doing it quite nicely. At first I thought it was canned, until the reported on a traffic tie up I was sitting in one morning about 2am.

Yeah. Somehow 700 WLW has slid under the radar of CheapChannel for quite a while now. Until last year they had a local sever weather sounder but alas now they have the usual NOAA computer generated garbage that mis-pronounces half of the cities in the warning area. From what I can tell they seem to have live local news 24-7 even on the weekends. Now how much longer this will last, well that's anybody's guess.

WLW has two advantages, first it bills like a station in a major market. Second, Randy Michaels was able to protect WLW when he was at Clear Channel and the tradition continues; for how long who knows?

It will last so long as they remain the "HUB" in CC's 'hub and spoke' design for generating local news of a large area. They retain the staff to continue to produce local content because they are always working on news for other markets.

WHAS Radio Should...Dump a few of the syndicated weekend repeat shows and find someone hungry enough to work cheap and do some local talk shows. Say for instance, you can pay the host 12 bucks an hour, pay the board op 10 bucks an hour, etc. So for a total of 22 bucks an hour you could have a local talk show.

They had a very popular Sunday afternoon program with Denton Randall a few years ago and scrapped it in favor of Dave Ramsey repeats. The only reason Jim Strader is local on Sunday evening is because he buys the time and sells his own commericals. I think Mike Ward did the same thing during weekday mornings about a decade ago on WKJK 1080 after Clear Channel bought that frequency.

Would it really?

I'd listen to it more if it was a simulcast of WGTK 970.

Mike ward is one of the worst talk show hosts i have ever heard and he paid to be on the station!!! The other terrible talk show host is on this liberal talk station in los angeles ktlk. Dave kruz is his name.He belongs on npr. They both are not good at talk radio!!!They dropped the wall street journal wrap just to put him on terrible idea!!!

Blame it all on john and ken on am 640 kfi. They made some comment about whitney houston after her death which clear channel didnt like and suspended them for a week.

Then black leaders got to clear channel telling them they had no diversity on kfi so they hired a african american they have on the station once a week. And also hired dave kruz once a week on kfi also and also everyday on the liberal talk station they own.

Am radio radio aint much to listen to on the weekends no matter what city you are in!!!
