WHAT 1340 AM lets Missy Stein go

Too bad for her personally, but her talk show was an unwelcome break in the rest of the all day, all music format and really didn't fit the time on the station. Hopefully there's an experienced local MOR personality who can take that time slot of hers & the late Bill Webber.

My vote would be for the return of Gene Packard, aka Geno Picardo, Jean Pikard..........Very knowledgeable, pleasant individual, and great presentation. I used to enjoy his show on the old WRDR, Egg Harbor City.

Last I heard he was teaching at a NJ college. Thoughts?

I was trying to remember the rest of WRDR's lineup... Bob Canavan, Dan Morrow, Ivory Blackwood...

Gene Packard did afternoons, but I remember Tom Moran on afternoons, too. Maybe Geno came after Tom retired. Hard to recall now... after all, it's been off the air for over 11 years now. I also can't remember the female DJ who co-hosted a show with Gene on Saturday nights. I think she was on Sunday afternoons, too.

There was a similar format around that same time on 640 originating from Mount Holly before it became Radio Disney, but I don't remember if they went off the air before or after WRDR signed off.

Re: Unforgettable 105

Andy Kortman did the morning show, Tom Moran preceded Geno, who did late afternoons up to the time of their format shift. Tom didn't retire at that point. Matter of fact, a little bird tells me that he is still on the radio. Cocktail time, bartender!!

Doris Chan was the female you were asking about? She was very enjoyable to listen to.

Corrections or additions from anyone? Charlie Mills, are you out there to provide more info?

Thanks!

Re: Unforgettable 105

Ah yes, the Happy Hour between 5 and 6... of course!

Doris Chan does sound vaguely familiar... I would've never thought of that myself. Thanks.

Not too many remember this either... Michael Tearson even did a brief stint on WRDR on Sunday evenings.

Finally, I can't leave a discussion on The Unforgettables without mentioning The Customs of Christmas, how they brought back Chickenman, and Ivory's "Who's been barbecuing on my car" commercial. Nice station... and I think they had decent ratings, too.

Re: Unforgettable 105

Ah, yes, their Christmas format. That's what caught my ear while surfing stations one day. Was a loyal listener ever since.

Had the privilege to meet Geno one evening during his live Sinatra show that was broadcast from Smithville Inn. Perfect gentleman and funny to boot!!

Yep, I remember Michael Tearson's show too. Good stuff all around.

Cheers!

Hello Mr. Longstreet!

I think you got it right.....Andy Kortman/Tom Moran/Gene Packard/Ivory Blackwood and Sue Shilling overnights was the lineup....I could ask Ivory but she is sleeping now!

I know that after Jim Rodio sold the station, the company that took over was pretty heartless. They had no respect for the format or the personalities. Ivory was pretty much over it. She was working for me at WPEN part-time. Jim Rodio had no problem with Ivory working at WPEN, but when the new owners took over, they were not happy about it. So Ivory left WRDR, stayed at WPEN and landed in the midday slot at WJBR-FM. This was a good thing because it opened up a shift for Danny Morrow at WRDR, who is one of the nicest people in the biz.

That's about all I can remember about the WRDR drama. I had my own daily drama going on at WPEN! LOL.

PS - If you go to Ivory's "Facebook" page there is a great picture of her with Michael Tearson in the old WRDR studio!

Hello Charlie,

Thanks for your insight, as always, and good to hear from you. As always. :)

I shall check out Ivory's Facebook page and say hello to her while I'm there.

Enjoy!!
