Just to give you an example of personnel turnover in the Rochester TV market here’s what happened between 2005 and this year. And before I begin, credit for this information has to be given to Jack Allen at Jack’s website: http://www.rnyn.com
Melissa Long left Channel 8 and went to CNN where she anchors CNN Headline News on the weekends.
Other departures at Channel 8 include Rachel Barnhart, who as most of know is suing the station.
Christine Crafts, Rob Haswell and Steve Levine also said good-bye to Humboldt Street. Haswell and Levine went to work for other TV stations out-of-state, while Crafts went to teach at SUNY Brockport.
Over at Channel 13, weekend sports anchor Traci Buch left the Empire State and moved south to start her own business
13 also saw the departure of Reporter Gavin Reynolds and Meteorologist David Aldrich.
Channel 10 Reporter Kristine Lopez also left New York and moved to Atlanta Georgia.
Reporter Stephanie Dusek left R-News.
With the exception of Ty Chandler and Melanie Barnas, the rest of the WUHF news department either quit or were fired after WHUF and WROC announced an agreement where Channel 8 would run FOX 31’s news operation.
In November of 2005 the “new” FOX 31 at 10 made its debut with anchors Lia Lando, a native of Corning, and Katrina Irwin as anchors. (Both Lando and Irwin work as reporters for Channel 8)
Not to keep harping about Channel 8, but that place had more changes than a baby does diapers. 8’s “Wake Up Rochester" early morning program experienced the biggest personnel shake-up.
First Melissa Long was moved from co-host to field reporter before she up and quit. Field reporter Cathy Orosz then became co-host, only to be back in the field again as she was replaced by Melanie Barnas, who was the anchor of FOX 31 news before Channel 8 agreed to run that operation.
"Wake Up" co-hosts Rob Haswell and Christine Crafts also said goodbye to Rochester TV. John Stehlin was named as Haswell’s replacement as weather forecaster.
I won’t even bother trying to figure out the new faces on Rochester TV because I would be here most of the day.
If anyone would like to take the time I'm sure people would like to see what personnel changes took place on Buffalo and Syracuse TV from last year to now.
