What a GREAT day to be in Radio... No Really!

I couldn't agree with you more, and I think about it rolling out of bed at 3:30 a.m. every workday.

After two decades in broadcast journalism, only two things keep me answering that alarm clock--knowing someone in my audience is depending on me, and having an occasional fun moment with my morning show host.

It's a good thing those are still important to me, eh?
 
*Cough!! Cough!!* WOW!! How cool is this!! Something actually POSITIVE on this board!! I almost choked on my cough drop when I read this!! It IS a great business. I love being in it, and can't see myself doing anything else. Thanks for the post. Now time for a new cough drop. ;D
 
It's all about your surroundings. My radio employer experience went from bad, worse, to god-damn-it-so-much. Today, I work for a company that "has a clue" and enjoy going to work.
 
I've been having varying degrees of fun over the last 10 years or so..

Traffic reporter/sidekick for Julie and Steve and Smiley on WZPL.

Middays on 107.9 The Track. Long Live the Disco Lounge!!!

Nights for 3 months on Oldies 101.9 last year doing an all request night show last summer.

Before all that, working in smaller markets around the state.

And now live from Knox, Indiana on WKVI-FM. Mornings from 5a-10a central time.

I plan on holding onto this job until they pry the microphone from my cold dead fingers.
 
Hey Tom...glad all is well in Knox Indiana. Also glad that I am not the only one still enjoying radio. After 27 years at WCBK, and doing the mornings since '97, I still wake up at 3:45am ready to go have fun.
I'm with you, can't imagine NOT being in radio, and while I've never worked in a bigger market, (and you and I have discussed this, so I know you agree) small market, home town radio is just plain fun.
