It was like the year 2000 again as Tony Femino did a couple of hours on KT'R Monday afternoon. This wasn't the "Voice To America" Femino Nurse Jeff and I've dreaded for years, but the old Femino full of piss and vinegar. And yes, the classic Gaydo's "What A Joke" track was played more often than a Barry Young sound effect. For a moment the Nurse and I thought the Men In Secret Underwear were on to something..but then we heard a Pat McMahon promo and snapped out of it :eek: What a joke, indeed!
 
That could have very well been an audition! Pretty soon, KT'R will come full circle. It seems like they are simply trying to figure out how to get KT'R on top again, even if it means trying to make it what it once was. They have to do something before it goes to FM. In terms of Arbitron, ratings cannot be combined between AM and FM. You could certainly talk the talk to advertisers, but until the PPM arrives, they need some rating points to win back some that transactional business that they have been missing out on.
 
He is a smart guy, and I respect what he is trying to do with Voice to AmericaHowever,I can't take him seriously as he does his show in such a juvenile, smug and idiotic way. Add in the fact that he tends to make real stupid errors (misnaming countries, etc) and his endless self promotion and back patting, I can't recommend his show. In fact I would cringe if I had to listen to this with friends that actually live overseas and know what is going on in the world.Pity though, its a great idea, but it needs someone with a bit more than a few classes at Oxford and years of experience talking about sports to pull it off.What a joke....indeed

As a talk show host doing stupid stuff he is fine, but when he pretends he is a 30 year international journalist, reporting from a war zone, its downright silly.You don't interview some Emir in Saudi Arabia like you do a 18 year old relief pitcher. I once heard him a few years ago reading copy about something happening in Kiev, and he went on and on about "who cares what happens in Ukrania" I expect the Tammy Vo's of the world to be ignorant news readers, but if Tony wants to pretend he knows the world, a few semesters in London and some passport stamps won't do it.That being said, he was much better than listening to McBland talking about his former glory, or Ted Simonds doing whatever he does (what does he do?)As for the Gremlin, I'm a Pacer man! And you can have my Ding Dongs and Ho Ho's when you pry them from my cold, dead arms.;D
 
I wanted to like Voice to America--but don't for aforementioned reasons...Have enjoyed hearing Femino host afternoons the past two days. Obnoxious, yes, but at least smarter than the average unbearable. He has "punch." Better than the bland bookends preceding and following. He kept insisting his filling in was not an auditon (in so many words)...Will KTAR dare to try an unknown? I am willing to allow someone good to grow on me.
 
Agreed! Femino sounds like he's on what half the MLB players are on. Nurse Jeff and I don't recall him having this kind of energy and punch hosting PMD before leaving for Bill Clinton's alma mater in England. Back then the best he could do against KFYI was an Annette Funicello interview (insert Gaydos sfx here) A tip of the fez to the Men In Secret Underwear for mixing things up at KT'R. Now if they could only let Pat retire, again ;D
 
Yeah, but if anyone with energy were hired by TAR, they would make him slow it down, so as not to offend the Sun City crowds.That is TAR's problem, they are trying to breed champions, but all the studs are neutered.Femino would be a good change, but they can do so much better, and they have done so much worse.Ladmo Waffos anyone?
