what a poor signal on 101.9

Living in Philly I usually go to Seaside Heights in the summer, today heading down I tried K-Rock and the new 101.9, being a listener of K-Rock in the past I started to pull them in around the 70/72 circle which is a long catch, tried 101.9 nothing, in fact it was not until I was in Lakehurst that they started to come in but not that good. K-Rock and most NYC signals (with the exception of 101.1 we all know why because of the B) were booming. Is this the rule of RXP, I never had any reason to tune them in before but their signal is really bad....

Maybe they were a low power or on the backup. WXRK and WRXP have virtually identical technical characteristics. WXRK is 6kw @ 415m and WRXP is 6.2w @ 413m from Empire.

There was a shutdown on Monday night at Empire. CBS FM was transmitting from its backup on the Viacom building. So I assume some of the other FMs were also doing the same.

If you want to hear the poorest signal of 101.9 and you might be cruisin through greenwich/stamford, try listening to 101.9 on 103.1 fm. URRGG! what a waste of dial space.

Although the pattern & strength are identical 92.3 is much stronger for some reason in Burlington County. I don't know if 92.5 in Philly is a little weaker, or what exactly causes it. But 92.3 along with 103.5 (no first adjacent IBOC) are the strongest stations in Burlington County.

I never knew 101.9 had a translator......Radio-Locator says that 103.1 W276AV (Stamford) translates WQXR while 103.1 W276BV (Greenwich) translates WMNR.....Although we can't really trust Radio-Locator as it says 101.9 is on 99.1 W256BD in Warwick, NY but currently 99.1 is translating AM 1110 WTBQ.

Actually 92.5 WXTU does have a directional signal so that can be reason it seems a bit weaker.......Remember 101.9 and few other NY stations do have to deal with Class B stations to the south and west which causes signal issues:

97.9 WSKQ - 97.9 WBSX Hazleton, PA
99.5 WBAI - 99.5 WJBR Wilimington, DE
100.3 WHTZ - 100.3 WPHI Media, PA
101.1 WCBS - 101.1 WBEB Philadelphia, PA
101.9 WRXP - 101.9 WAVT Pottsville, PA
107.5 WBLS - 107.5 WFKB Boyertown, PA

same is true in levittown. 925 is rather weak and K Rock is by far the easiest NYC to pull in. but i must say i prefer 105.7 The Hawk, G Rock and WMMR and YSP. these signals boom in my area.
