What About New York?

I am sorry but I have usually tended to look down my nose at the "second" city. But in Oldies, Chicago, LA and Dallas have New York beat. You guys lost Majic but Majic has re-appeared with jocks on the net and later on HD.

You had WRLL all along. Now you get another oldies station on the old WLS-FM frequency.

My question is, what about New York? When will we get an oldies station. I am a former New Yorker, but I plan to spend all of next summer in the city, and I want to have a replacement for the Golden 101.

AM is fine with me. Any station that can reach Brooklyn will do. We can at least get one station with oldies, can't we?
______________

WRLL is not a "True" oldies station, it has it's own unique sound that goes after the high end of the boomer crowd. Very few WJMK listeners would listen to them with their mostly pre 1964 playlist. I like oldies, but WRLL was too old for me with too many standards and 50s doo wop songs although those have lessened since WJMK went away. However, even though I don't care for it doesn't mean there aren't people who do enjoy it. Everybody has their own tastes. Hopefully, a poorly rated FM in NYC will flip.

It would be nice if oldies returned to New York on FM or AM. WPLJ is a poorly rated FM in NYC, but they bill very well, so I don't see them going anywhere. It has more to do with than ratings. What about WBBR? I know they don't do well ratings wise, but what about billing. Oh, Mr. Eduardo? Do you have any info on WBBR? Thanks.
______________

That's Bloomberg's toy. He'd probably want to keep it business news regardless of ratings.

WPLJ does nvery well due to the demos it gets, all prime sales demos.

I have used WFAN as an example many times. 15th in 12+ but #3 or #4 in billings. Prime demos.

WBBR is part of Bloomberg's marketing plan. No chance at all there, as Eli said so well.

trueoldieschannel.com they stream babe. Or there always is satellite radio if you want to pay for it. It is kind of sad that the no.1 market in the nation has no oldies station when just about every burg in the country has at least one or one within listening range.

Sorry for the later response. Maybe better late than never?
WMTR 1250 AM in Morristown NJ should cover the city day and night. I don't live in the city so I can't confirm that, however. They also stream at www.wmtram.com.
