What about Ocean County on 97.3?

NJ101.5's latest liner for 97.3 says "serving atlantic, cape may and cumberland counties at 97.3fm".

Well, in Ocean County, south of Barnegat, 97.3's signal is stronger than 101.5's.

In fact 101.5 is stronger in Hammonton (ATLANTIC COUNTY) than it is in Tuckerton (OCEAN COUNTY).

See: http://www.angelfire.com/nj2/njradio/1015973.JPG
(shows the 54dBu contour of both stations and where the 2 signals are of equal strength)

Probably has something to do with the ratings... Monmouth/Ocean is one book, Atlantic/Cape is a different book. You don't want to damage the big dog's ratings in one of the books that is their bread and butter.

Maybe 'cause that's how they want to position the 97.3 signal? The same way 101.5 ignores half the Trenton market (Bucks County) - why? Because that's how they position the station! I think it works.

Secondly, "Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland Counties" is a lot easier to remember then, "Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland Counties, plus Ocean County if you're below Manahawkin, Burlington County from the Chatsworth cranberry bogs to Bass River Township, Salem County from just west of the power plant to Elmer, Gloucester County east of Glassboro and below Turnersville, eastern Camden County from Atco to Waterford Works including all of Winslow Township, boats on Delaware Bay, ships in the ocean out 20 nautical miles, eastern New Castle County, Kent County, including the city of Dover, and Sussex County, Delaware, from Fenwick Island to Seaford" after every weather forecast.
