What about Q93?

If the format flip for WRNO is true and Monica Pierre does mornings, what about Q93?Will CC flip their format to Rock to keep the lame Rod Ryan show on, or will he be off the air in New Orleans when CC completes their destruction of WRNO.FYI: Most format flips happen on Thursdays and CC has stuck with that in the past.

i seriously doubt they kill the #1 revenue station for some lame classic rock. if they were planning on keeping classic rock they would have put the news on 104.1.

What I meant was will Q93 go new rock? I didn't think CC would destroy WRNO just to put a different classic rock station on Q93.Q93 was #1 12+ and that's about it--before Katrina. New Orleans is a new city. New demos. I heard on the network news tonight that less than one third of black residents cast ballots in the April election.Q93s glory days are gone, but that's not to say they still can't do well. They just will NEVER be what they were before Katrina.I think 101.1 WNOE would have been a more obvious choice for news instead of 104.1, considering how strongly CCNO backs gospel and how little regard CCNO has for country, both classic and new.Again I ask--what about Q93? Is Monica Pierre leaving the morning show there entirely? Will she be on Q93 and WRNO? Will CJ Morgan have a new partner? What is the future of Q93? ???

q93 aint leaving. and wnoe sure aint going active rock. active rock is not making money nationwide. they sure aint gonna kill 101.1 wnoe for that..

The general consensus is WQUE and WYLD won't be 1 and two anymore (and there are questions by me on how that could be with some of their listeners, but that's another thread) but will be top 10. KNOU should give up the hip hop as it didn't have too much market pre Katrina and sure won't post Katrina. Only thing that will work there is either a format aimed at Plaquemines parish (who still question how many will come back) or a format that people would be willing to listen thru the noise for such as New rock, spanish etcWNOE won't be killed as it was number 3 pre Katrina and is estimated to become number 2 or stay at least top 5 Post, even with Rockin' country 106.7 (which I don't expect to take too many listeners due to the fact that the music is a lot of the same music WNOE is laying off of cause it's burnt)CCNO seems to care more about the Black listener in NOLA (I mean if the expected morning shows pan, it will seem to be african american aimed until noonish IMO)... Only problem is as people said, most moved to Houston and Georgia and don't plan to come back . CC killed Walton and Johnson and that was one of the things that killed WRNO, yes, but the very limited playlist did the rest... If RNO's product was good, people would flip at 10am back but they aren't.I think a modern rocker done right will do right in NOLA (It may be a better fit for 104.5 , but anyhow) and if WRNO is set to be blown, I see the ad revenue and announcer limited 104.1 would be the best bet to flip current rock working on NOLA,BR and the Bayou area (plus putting a killer signal still on the northshore) People still talk about Rock stations that haven't been around for 10+ years.. can you say that about some of the other formats?!?But that's just my opinionRFLA

Interesting how a self described headbanger would label classic rock lame. I always enjoy reading your posts and I agree with you a lot of the time but if CCNO were not going to touch WRNO they would not have thrown off their beloved gospel for news, not just yet. What I'm saying about WNOE is that CCNO hates country and rock and if WNOE ever has a bad book or 2, they would be gone. No, I don't seriously think WNOE would go new rock, I'm just saying between 104.1 and NOE if they had to flip one tomorrow, NOE would be gone.Really what I was trying to find out is if RodRyan will be unplugged and not heard on any New Orleans station when RNO flips. In other words we can say he's being fired to make room for Monica Pierre.I think a modern rocker would do well in New Orleans, it's just that 106.7 was a BAD rock station. The Buzz in Houston has a much better music mix and I would rather listen to that little 96.5 out of Lafayette or whereever. I couldn't listen to 106.7 very long, when that Sig was doing afternoons he would do these 12 minute long rambling breaks in that voice of his with that feminine lilt he has--and I'm being kind.Q93 may not be going anywhere just yet, but half of the morning show is leaving for WRNO, right? Or is Monica going to do both stations? As for #1 revenue station, reality check... If a station has #1 ratings but they have a bad sales dept. like CCNO has, that doesn't bill to their potential, then that's revenue down the toilet. Good ratings only benefit a station if they are used to make money, if the sales dept is incompetent and lazy waiting for ad agencies to pick up the phone and call your station to advertise then that's lost revenue. All CCNO stations have not billed to their potential for years. CCNO sales has squandered those good ratings for years.

when i said lame classic rock i meant its the same stale songs that have been on the air sice 1984. 22 years of the same playlist gets rather old after a while!! i am a headbanger..but i would rather hear madonna borderline than to have to hear hotel california or freebird one more time!!!

CCNO's thought on Q93 and YLD, as I understand it, is that the A-A's who left town are, for the most part, people who didn't have the means to leave on their own, and don't have the means to come back. How much $$ did they put into the economy? So while Q and YLD's books may not be as good whenever another book comes out (and it may be sooner than later), their quality of audience, at least as it relates to their advertisers, will have increased.NOE's going nowhere. They were mostly female before 106.7 came along, and if a niche group jumped over there, they've become even more female. It's been said on this board time and again -- rockers are dying. That's why RNO is the choice to go news/talk.

yes the rockers are dying because of the same playlist for 20+ years. i hate wrno in its present format. the same songs daily. its so predictable.

Rod Ryan was NEVER an enjoyable show.........even when he was on 106.7! and as far as kat, i've only heard her once or twice on wrno and she kinda reminds me of bender on 105.3 the bayou. they like to ramble on about gossip they find on the internet and the big wig's think that's so intertaining.sawtooth

That's odd! Ya know, I heard her quite a few times on WFMF in Baton Rouge after Katrina. This was when the CC New Orleans and Entercom New Orleans people were working together at the CC Baton Rouge offices. It was kinda wierd hearing her do nights on 'FMF! She sounded like she was having fun, but at the same time, she didn't know anything about many of the CHR artists.... lol
