Allaccess.com reports today that Opie and Anthony have been signed to bunch of Citadel stations including Buffalo's EDGE. I know there was some speculation here regarding O & A and where they might land in the Queen City a few weeks back, but I've seen nothing here regarding this change.

Did I miss something or is this today's "breaking news"?

The news was broken on this thread. But, your point is still pertinent. What's the deal? Will O&A really go to AM drive on The Edge? Where does that leave Shredd & Ragan - PM Drive? SOL?

Citadel seems to be in cost-cutting mode lately in anticipation of their purchase of/by ABC. Are O&A significantly cheaper than S&R? Are S&R too expensive for PM drive?

To me, replacing S&R with O&A, who've never done serious business in this market, seems like the height of folly. What scares me is that it might make perfect sense to the beancounters in Vegas.
