What about The Legend?

I know everyone complains about the signal. So other than that wouldn't Eagle leaving in many ways help The Legend, seeing as how they played alot of the older stuff. I've been listening to the Legend, and yes i live on the southside of town.

Clear Channel classic country station at 96.7. City of license is Peachtree City. Only 2150 watts (tiny). Tower looks like it's on the edge of Tyrone.

CC has used this station as a proving ground for a lot of formats that it launches on better signals later on (the Buzz/Project), as well as a graveyard for formats on the way out (Lite FM).

96.7 would be better off being given to a suburban operator on the southside to operate. The only time this signal amounted to a hill of beans was when it was an unsellable younger-skewing alternative and cracked a 1.0 share. I think it might have done a 1.0 share as Wild, too. CC should have already unloaded it.

I was thinking the same thing...they already unloaded WHEL 105.1 (now WZGA) in Helen...

I wonder if Davis would be interested so they could do a trimulcast of La Raza...

Most "Country Legend" stations primarily reach an audience over age 55, which is not...I repeat...not sellable to advertisers.

I love the older stuff, too. (Been in and around country radio since 1975), but I understand the way things are today in radio...the demands of the advertisers, and the harsh realities of what it takes to make money in this business today.

certainly understand about the demographics/age of follks that listen.... however, wouldn't you say that
with satellite radio and all the new HD secondary stations you just might have to try something the other
folks arent willing to try... with so many choices out there it would only make sense to me. there are only so many advertisers out there ,and more a more stations vying for them

how much do small stations like this usually cost signals under 3000

Rumor has it that WIMO (1300 kHz)--the whole thing, license, P/P/E--is available for the first $75K. Of course, that's an AM station out of Winder...650W day, 50W night...class D but you might could upgrade and more power...of course you'd might have to get others to move out of your way, most notably WPBC on 1310 out of Decatur at 2500W and a 1000W on 1300 out of Newnan...not sure what frequency and power separation is required on AM...

Maybe CC can moved Legend to 105.7. For former 106.7 listeners, maybe they can have Dolly Parton record a loop that says "To the left to the left".

another choice for "real country" listeners is REAL COUNTRY Q92.3 (WMOQ) out of Monroe, Ga. 3000K serves Walton and surrounding counties.
