What about WAAF for Bruins games?

With the looming contract ending w/WBZ and the Bruins would WAAF be a match to carry the games?

I am not sure of the fees (contract w/NHL I am sure).

WAAF has the 2 dial positions, can cover a fair amount of New England (to be argued I know). For weeknight 7:05 starts the WBZ brodcast starts about 6:55 and most nights the game is over about 9:30. Couple that with a post game you are looking at under 4hrs. Would the ad revenue be worth it? I think the issue would be for the afternoon games..people might want music as they are working in the yard/running errands (but people might want to hear news/traffic and weather on BZ during the games)

Just wondering if the move would make (or not) make sense.

well i think any station onthe fm band would be great for games i dont like listening to sports events on am anymore its nice to ear it in stereo or if your luck enoug to have enough dough to buy an hd radio then there is nothing better.

Bruins on WAAF ? NO ! If Entercom pick up The Bruins, they will put the Bruins on 680 or WEEI ( WEEI Network stations ) .

well closer to providence where i live it would be 103.7 maybe? but then again entercom probrobly wont because of the conflict of programming i think they should reup the contract and put it on wbcn they do it with pats games.

i may be in the minority but I always felt that hockey was the worst sport to listen to on the radio...it just doesn't play out well. Baseball works out great because it's slow and you can easily describe the action...football can be great if you have the right announcers and basketball works just fine too...but hockey just always seemed intolerable on the radio

There wouldn't be that much of a conflict. The only thing running the majority of the season is Celtics. And B's and C's are almost always on different nights or at least different times. When one of the two conflicted with the sox they would just toss the other on one of the other stations (sox on 680/b's on 850) and on the rare occasion that they had all 3 at once they can lease time on 1510 or use one of their own FMs.

As for all the network stations, not much would have to change, as there are B's network partners already in all the other markets and they are already on stations that don't have C's/Sox or if they do they already have their own plan to move games when there are more than one.

You had me right there. There was no reason to type any more. Hockey is soccer on skates except they have staged fights to keep the spectators from falling asleep. To each his own, it's easy enough to ignore. I just wish that the Dale & Holley show didn't attract so many hockey calls. The other shows barely ever mention it. I find hockey talk even more boring than hockey itself.

What I find really amazing is that people listen to NASCAR races on the radio. They have to be brain-dead.

They're actually amazingly well-produced, some of the better radio production among professional sports.

If somebody's neither at the race nor around a television, how else do you suggest they would find out what's going on?

this is always a heated debate....I don't get the whole nascar thing, but i've been to a race and the people watching is worth the price of admission

I am not a huge fan, but I find myself listening to the radio broadcasts a lot on Sundays, especially before football gets going -- it's more entertaining than a baseball broadcast, and most of the announcers are informative and know their stuff. Well-done, too, on the production end, which leaves me less likely to hit the "scan" button.

Capitalization, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and grammar are vastly overrated.

It's one thing for BCN to play 16 Pats games a season, it's another thing entirely to play 82 games.
