What American sports teams are carried on Canadian radio?

A while back, a Windsor radio station was carrying University of Michigan football games (if they aren't doing it still). What other American teams have affiliates in Canada? I'd think that teams like the Seattle Seahawks would have a station in Vancouver or Detroit and Buffalo teams having Canadian affiliates too.

CJCL (FAN 590) in Toronto is on the Bills network, and the Lions network includes CJBK 1290 in London, Ontario. CJBK also carries the Red Wings; there are no Pistons or Tigers affiliates in Canada at the moment.

I thought CHOK in Sarnia had one or more of the Detroit teams. Perhaps the operative word there is "had"...past tense.

What I used to find interesting was that a few Canadian stations carried Paul Harvey news....which always began with a taped "Hello Canadians". CFCO comes to mind as one of these. The Harvey affiliates also carried "The Rest of the Story", which would logically would seem to be a better fit north of the border.

A reversal to the topic should also be mentioned. Some Vancouver Canuck games are carried on KRKO 1380 Everett,WA which serves the Seattle area.

The station is the one-and-only CKLW/800, that 50 kW powerhouse that booms all over Southeast Michigan and into Ohio. It has been the "co-flagship" for the U of M football broadcasts along with CBS Radio classic hits WOMC/104.3 Detroit.

I don't know how long the contract runs...they started doing it in 2006, and I believe they at least have done it through the past year.

...and isn't there an AM station in the Buffalo NY area carrying the Toronto Blue Jay games?

WSPQ 1330 in Springville, south of Buffalo, used to carry some Jays games. It's not on the current station roster, and it was never a Buffalo signal anyway. You can hear the Jays' flagship, CJCL 590, as well as the Hamilton affiliate, CHAM 820, better in most of Buffalo than WSPQ. We lost reliable Jays radio here in Rochester when the team moved from CHML to CHAM a couple of seasons ago; CHML puts a good signal into Rochester day and night, but CHAM is iffy at best. 590 comes in better here now than it used to, which suggests to me that something may not be quite right at their transmitter site - as is true for many Canadian directional AMs.

Speaking of Hamilton and "something not right", CKOC comes in better here in Northern Illinois than one might expect. Radio Locator suggests that very little nighttime juice should be coming this way. This has been going on for quite a while. But ssshhh....don't tell anyone! I'll take the oldies over the canned swill from WHBY.

You'll be happy to know CKOC and CHAM are the same company.
The short lived talk 820 failed miserably, so let's hope this means they're happy with both the Country and oldies numbers enough to avoid going back to talk on either station!
There's enough Art Bell (or whoever it is now.)
We don't need more talk repeating itself on the dial. We need great stations like CKOC 1150!

I knew that. In fact, I've heard some of the same news/traffic voices doing double duty on both stations. I also remember when CHAM was on 1280....even going back to their days as CJJD.

And now that CHAM has seemingly "come to its senses" and gone back to country, I'm wondering if CFZM will quit dabbling with occasional talk and bring continuity back to what's otherwise a well-executed format.

The Tigers were last on CJBK in the 2008 season. Starting in 2009 the Jays moved from CFPL 980 to CJBK.

In terms of Canadian teams being carried on American radio, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds hockey team has been carried on WSUE 101.3 since 2009, after 15 years on CJQM 104.3 on the Canadian side. At one time they Greyhounds were on WKNW 1400.

With Rogers in bed with the Buffalo Bills, I gather they'll continue carrying Buffalo Bills games on Sportsnet radio Fan 590, but I'm not sure if any other radio station outside the Toronto market will do so.
