WHAT?? AMP LAFAYETTE FOR SALE?

Q

Rumor on the street is that AMP Lafayette has had some visitors in the building, and they might of had a checkbook in one of their hands?

Any thoughts on who it might be?

What do you think they will do?

BOB has a lot of potential if they do it right. WSHP had its best book in 2 years and WAZY, well - I think we all know what needs to happen there.

I really think whoever buys the stations should switch

95.7 into Modern Rock
Keep Bob at 95.3
Mobilize 96.5 into an Adult Top 40 format

i believe 95.7 tried the modern rock thing before and did not fair well

It didn't fair well when it came to selling advertising. However, it did extremely well in the ratings.

Really, the only station in town I'd like to see flip Modern Rock is 93-5 'khy, because currently, they're the only one's who'd know how to pull it off with a bang.

Just what every investor is looking for ... a popular yet not financially successful format. :)

I heard that 93-5 had a great fall ratings book. Why would they flip?

Whether or not 93.5 had a great book, if a radio GSM can't translate those increased ratings into increased advertising dollars, and/or higher spot rates, then the ratings are analogous to that "If a tree falls in a forest, and nobody is around, does it make a sound?" cliche.

That might be why they would flip.

Folks, 93.5 is our frequency on McCarty Lane. Not Artistic.

last i heard 93.5 was owned by a company based out of ill. has something changed?

Radioworks sold 93.5 and 102.9 to Schurz (WASK's parent company) a couple years ago.

There are now only three commercial radio companies in town now...

Artistic... 95.3, 95.7, 96.5, 1410

Schurz... 93.5, 98.7, 102.9, 105.3, 1450

KVB... 106.7

People...Artistic, the operation on South 18th, none of it is for sale. They are never going to and have never talked about selling any of the stations in Bloomington, Lafayette, or SB. Okay? Sheesh, this talk has been going on for years and there's absolutely no truth to it at all.

Strike that. KVB sells to K-Love. Who'd have thought Charlie Vaughn's kid would sell to a bible thumper?

The rumor was incorrect. Wrong company. AMP is looking to expand. How about 98.7 moves
to S 18th now. Good place for it to improve.

isn't that what is always said before a sale is imminent? I know the comp. i worked for said the same thing and within weeks we were sold to CC

trust me when I say this. AMP is wanting to sell Lafayette. They have had some seriously interested companies come in and kick the walls a little.

Most recently they had a company in Peoria (Independence Media) comes to mind. Trust me, if he can make 4 million for that cluster he is out faster than the STL on the Rocket tower.

I cant believe the people would think he wants to expand in Lafayette. His original plan was to buy WGLM. However Kelly said she would NEVER sell to Artistic. Look at it, she sold to EMF. Now that he cany buy Mix, he is looking to get out for sure. They will keep Bloomington and South Bend. Thats all they want!

Timewarp, be serious. amp couldn't come up with the 1.2 to add GLM to the stable which would have added great value to the other S 18th street properties when they do sell. They offered more than that a couple years ago. If you think amp is looking to add "stations", you must be referring to gas stations because they certainly can't run radio stations. As the A's said, Fort Wayne is not for sale. Remember?

Yeah, I had a gut feeling to hold off on posting that clarification. ::)

I love the gas station comment.

Im trying to imagine the AMP gas stations, no attendants because they felt the gas pumps could collect their own income. Oh, then you get cheap watered down gas, but charge 3 cents more per gallon then the other guy because you have a bigger gas station on a better corner. Oh and dont market or advertise, thats not possible...why would you need to do something like that. I cant forget this one, you change the colors and logo of the gas station each week because you feel like it!

AMP GAS and CONVENIENCE STORES

We charge you twice the amount and never get you the product you deserve. Its how we do things, kinda like not buying Arbitron anymore
