One of the people that NBC News/MSNBC has sent to Galveston, Texas to cover Hurricane Rita is.........Rita Cosby!

Talk about irony!

It's as if there were a Hurricane Joseph headed to south Florida and I had been sent there by a network to report on it.

Is that irony, Alanis, or just a coincidence?

Coincidence if anything...

C'mon, you really think they wouldn't send her just because of her name?<P ID="signature">______________

My mother-in-law is a Red Cross nurse currently in Baton Rouge. Her name is Rita.

Not any worse than CNBC having AccuWeather segments with meterologist Katrina Voss covering the impending arrival and movement of Katrina; I'm sure she's BEYOND tired of naming comparisons by now....

I remember in 1977 Hurricane Anita was projected
to hit Texas somewhere around Corpus Christi. It
changed direction and ended up hitting just south
of the Mexican border. KENS/5 San Antonio sent a
reporter named Anita Anderson to cover the storm,
and she could barely get through her reports without
kidding from anchor Chris Marrou about her name.

"Today, Hurricane Gr8Oldies came through New York, with the worst damage being in the radio offices and studios on West 57th Street in Manhattan. When it was over, Jack on the local radio dial had been replaced by the classic CBS-FM".
