What are Chicago radio's biggest failures?

How about the Dynamic Trio of horrible ratings:  WCPT/WCPQ/WCPY (92.7/99.9/92.5)?  Their ratings have been in the toilet for years but they are bankrolled by some fat wallets on that side of the political aisle that are out on some political crusade. I seriously wonder if they converted 92.7 to a Polish station if it would have better ratings. You can't do much worse except for maybe FM News 101 which is now dead.

I would submit that we could remove the stations you mentioned and substitute WIND...which is also bankrolled by some "fat wallets" on the opposite side of the political spectrum.  If "success" equals ratings and revenue, then neither WCPT stations nor WIND meets the definition.  However, if success equates to meeting one's objectives, and if those objectives involve giving voice to one's point of view, then I'd define both WIND and the WCPT stations as "successful".

I'm not interested in getting into an argument over the merit or lack therof in either broadcaster's political alignment.  I'm a politically independent voter.  As such, I'm thankful that Chicago area listeners have radio access to both sides of the debate.
