WHAT ARE COUGAR TOWN'S CHANCES ON TBS?

If you haven't seen one of the four billion promos, billboards and/or print ads, "Cougar Town" moves over to TBS tonight.

I had never watched the show, despite being a fan of Courteney Cox, Bill Lawrence, and most of the cast on ABC, mostly because I don't watch anything on ABC and never remembered when it was on. TBS is my go-to station, though, when I'm not watching something DVR'd as there is surely a rerun of something on that I'll find interesting. I caught a mini-marathon on TBS this weekend and actually enjoyed the show.

Thoughts on its chances for success at TBS? Whats the rating threshold that would be required to keep it around for a fifth season? (TBS renewed it for a 15 episode fourth season with an option for a fifth season).

I have never watched it, and based on TBS's 90-day long beat-me-over-the-head constantly
promo campaign, I am fairly certain I never want to watch it.

All I know is that it's not about cougars. Or "cougars".
And appears to be about some middle-aged women who sit around
their kitchen getting drunk all the time. No doubt kvetching about all
the mundane problems of daily life just as my wife and her friends like to do.

Yawn.

And that the producers of this show were stupid enough to give it a really
crappy name, but I should watch it anyway?

Even a smoking in-her-prime Courtney Cox from her 3000 Miles to Graceland days
could not get me to tune in for that!

and, to put it mildly.....she's well beyond that point.

The same can be said for such gems as "Frank TV" and "10 Items Or Less." :D

TBS beat me over the head with radio promos too. Particularly on sports stations.
Somebody thinks this show is going to pull a strong male demographic. I don't see it.

It's Cougar Town. As in the high school sports teams are the Cougars.

Of course you never saw anything about them either.

Even on "The Middle" we know the teams are the Hens.

I hated this show. I only watched as long as I did because Courteney was pretty.

You must be a younger person. From where I'm sitting (pushing 61), women in their late 40s and early 50s often look very good, and comparatively young - Courtney included. Though I'll concede that she's getting some of that "too much work done" look indicating some noticeable plastic surgery. Christa Miller, also from from Cougartown has got that same artificial puckered look. I don't understand why female celebs think they have to do this. I've heard that HDTV has gotten them all panicked that natural aging is more noticeable in high definition.

Nevertheless, I gave this show about three episodes during it's first season on ABC, and have not come back to it. It's not bad, but I just didn't find the characters compellilng enough to care anything about them.
